I apologize for a thread so off-topic.
I came here because the HobbyTalk members are intelligent, sagacious,
(I love using that word to describe you guys),
and knowledgeable about a great variety of topics.

I need to send a Christmas card to my Mother's cancer Doctor.
She is a woman doctor, and is married to a doctor.
How do I address the envelope?
Normally, a card to a married couple is:

"Mr. & Mrs. John Q. Public"
or
"Dr. & Mrs. John Q. Public"

But they're both doctors! What do I do?

I think the best way to send it might be to go with something like:

"Drs Public"

Or "Drs John & Jane Public" - which might actually be better. That way you're acknowledging both of them by name.

I agree with Griff. I would address it "Drs Jane and John Q. Public" I would list her first since she is your Mother's Doctor.

I concur.

You could also break them out:

Dr. Jane Q. Public
Dr. John Q. Public

or for a little variety,

Jane Q. Public, MD
John Q. Public, MD

But for the sake of simplicity, go with Griff's and Paw's sagacious advice.

If you have no connection with the husband, I would address it to Dr. Jane Public and Family

I always feel it's more proper to address to the person you have the closest contact to first

And to further muddy the waters, I also like Lou's suggestion. :)

I would vote for "Drs John & Jane Public".

Good! Just don't leave out the 'L' in 'Public'. That could be a faux-pas you'll NEVER recover from!

Although extremely embarrassing, you can recover.... just don't tell my superiors. I misspelled "public" in class one night. I just casually inserted the missing "l" while my students weren't looking. My agency also published a draft report with that same word misspelled (this time by our consultant). We quickly did a find and replace and uploaded the corrected report on our website.
