We're going to try one for our LOCAL racing next year... same basic ARCOR rules,

but the LRP Sphere and GTB's will be legal. (cause it's what we already have)

I was thinking of mounting the wing that comes w/ the car using Darkside-style mounts & wing wire off of the trunklid. That way,I could move the wing up & down,as well as fore and aft as needed.
I'll have to see if my LHS has the HPI wing kit.

Great idea! Here are the results. The supplied wing works great when using the Darkside mounting kit. I did however shorten the carbon plates by one mounting hole to get more of it under the wing. Also increased side-dam size but used black sticker material to reflect stock appearance.
Under front "splitter" plate I fabricated a new bumper to support and protect front area. Have not run car yet, so can't provide any results.
It is mounted on my Pro-3 which worked well with a Proto-Monte prior,so should be interesting. Can't wait!
See my Gallery for pics.

Dan,

On the front bumper, I had the same idea...I'm hoping Randy (BigBoysToys) is able to make some to test. I think that will protect the splitter part of the body...and keep it from getting all busted up.

Hey Mr. Dan - can you send me a fairly Hi Res. picture of your wing mounting...I think I like it - and we're going to try doing a C.O.T. class at our local club racing.

Well, finally got a chance to run my COT with PRO-3 17.5 Lipo this past weekend.
One word: PUSH! Not too far off the pace with alot of "driving", made a slight improvement with a RF camber change, still considerable RF tire wear. Went to my other Pro-3 after 1st qualifier since we don't have a designated COT body rule.
Wouldn't be so bad if all others were running COT, but definitely a disadvantage unless.

Dan,

I think that is why ARCOR found with the C.O.T. body that the 21.5/LIPO was a good match for 4 cell STOCK

Hi Joe,
Slowing down always helps! Would have tried in stock but we changed to Nastruck for stock, and I wanted to run a truck to see how that was.Running stock is always weird after getting used to Mod. But would have been fun if our turn-out had been better(1st race of the year)

Dan,

I think that is why ARCOR found with the C.O.T. body that the 21.5/LIPO was a good match for 4 cell STOCK

What did I find in the years of ARCOR? 1: The vast majority of racers wanted any new class to be as close to stock as possible. 2: If ARCOR had gone with a 23+ wind motor and lipo's it would have been to slow for the average racer that was switching to lipo's. Thus it would have been a dead class before it even got off the "carpet". 3: Racers as a whole would rather have to worry about set-up, verses motors and batteries. 4: The "COT" body was only a way of taking another item out of the set-up equasion, especially if you race at more than one track. While a body is only a SMALL % of what is invetesed in the "hobby" it does make it easier for those racers that may race at more than one track a month. How many times have we "read" what body is working at such and such track? If everyone runs the same body, who cares??

While I was chastized for having "to many classes" those that did so had no vision of the future. A future that possibly one motor could be ran with either lipo's or NiMh batteries, "together" (Blasphemy). On the same note, no one thought of this, but only thought of themselves, not the hobby as a whole. :(
