All right! This is right up my alley. Thanks for posting your pictures. It seems like not that many rally collectors in the US. I have several hundred 1/43 scale Monte Carlo cars, including these two.

database43, thanks and please keep posting. I have all of these you have posted so far, some from IXO and some from other manufacturers. (I have two different versions of the 240Z.)

I have all of the winners' cars from 1953 to 2007 except for the 1955 car, which was a Sunbeam MkIII. Before 53 I also have winner from 1939. I collect the top three finishers from each year and then one example of any other car model that ran in a particular year; about 250 Monte Carlo cars so far.

2nd place in 1981 with Guy Fréquelin/Jean Todt. The real car was sold in France back in the '80s. Color was black with silver stripes, it was, I think, the only color available. Engine is an in-line 4, DOHC, 2172cc and 150hp.

Not from the "Rallye de Monte Carlo" collection but still made by Ixo for Altaya's "Voitures de Rallye", this Sierra entered the 1991 Monte driven by François Delecour/Anne-Chantal Pauwels and finished 3rd.

That's a pretty comprehensive collection, no shame about it !!!

I'm not collecting all the Monte Carlo cars, I'm trying to focus on the 50's, 60's and 70's.

When I was a teenager (a long time ago), I lived in the French Riviera and every January we used to go to the Turini, spending all night in the snow to watch the cars doing three times the Turini and at the end of the night we drove down to Monaco to see the cars gathered in a parking lot. It brings back so many good memories !

Thank you for your kind words. I imagine it is one of the better ones in the USA, but there are not that many MC collectors over here. As a consequence, not many of these cars are carried by our dealers.

I must tell you that I envy you these memories! I have collected several books about the MC rally and it is exciting to read about. It must have been so much more exciting to see the Turini in person. Were you one of those mischievous spectators who shoveled snow into the paths of the British teams? The history books seem to indicate that this was a common occurrence.

Although I still enjoy the rally today, I agree that it was much more interesting before 1990. One of the main reasons I bought my 69 Citroen DS is because the DS has a successful MC history.

No, no ! Dumping snow on the road was stupid and even criminal !!! I didn't support a team in particular although my heart was beating for Lancia !

Driving a DS in the USA, that is kind of unusual ! I'm curious to know about what American people think when they see a DS ??? You know that in Europe, the Dutchs are crazy about Citroën (André Citroën's father was Dutch), they buy the most beautiful remaining samples of DS, ID, Ami 6, 2CV, Type H... from France

Well, most Americans alive now have never seen one except perhaps in the movies. Only a few can identify what it is. However, I live in the Washington DC area and we have many African immigrants. Many of them recognize the car and remarque to me about it, since the DS was also very popular in larger African cities with French influence. It was also manufactured by Citroen for a time in South Africa. Just like everywhere else, most people who see it think it's pretty cool and a few people hate it. There is no accounting for taste...

Nice comparison shot. The quality of the old Vitesse holds up very nicely.

Although the Rallye de Monte Carlo Collection is not finished, Altaya is launching a 2nd edition with the same models, except the first one which is '07 Grönholm's Focus (3rd place), and piece de resistance, it costs only 1 euro ($1.50), yes : 1 euro !!!

Unbelieveable. You are welcome to buy me one of course!

Same model here from IXO is about $45. How depressing.

Just released, this SAAB 96 won the 1963 Monte Carlo with Carlsson/Palm. Made by Ixo for Altaya's Rallye de Monte Carlo 1st edition, those models are getting harder and harder to find as Altaya launched a 2nd edition of this collection (see previous posts)

Manovox, cool cars but wrong thread. This thread is just about cars from the Monte Carlo Rally.

New from Altaya/Ixo.
Citroën ID19 - Paul Coltelloni/Pierre Alexandre/Claude Desrosiers

The body color, sort of metallic gold/orange, sounds strange to me. Can PWS, our Monte Carlo expert, let us know if this is the correct color ?

Superb! Really like this orange/white combination. Paint looks deep and of a great quality.

Frédéric, I have never seen a color photograph of that car (only black and white) but I have seen this famous add with a color drawing and that looks correct:

What a wonderful ads by famous artist Géo Ham ! Great piece of collection Paul, and, yes, the color looks correct.
