I feel very lucky tonight after going to a christmas market that usually yields little or no good diecast. To my surprise a local collector was having a clearout - all the cars in the photo (not the London Buses) cost me a grand total of US$45 at the current great exchange rate.
The near mint green LandRover Safari only has 1 chip and looks factory fresh in a lighter shade of green than my existing example with the Lesney embossed tyres (this item, the Tiger bus, the Saab 99 and VW T1 van came from 4 other sellers). The Tiger bus has larger sized grey plastic wheels compared to the silver wheels on my existing example - the paint is also notably a bit more blue, less silver. The Thames Trader Jennings has large fine bpw on the tractor rather than medium knobby bpw fitted to my existing example -i remember this cab design 1:1 as a child on smoking struggling underpowered tippers so it just beats the Ford D series of no7 & no 70 as my favourite Lesney truck
The upside down Bedford ambulances are both in need of new paint and rear doors but one has gpw, the other spw which when you only have a bpw like me , allows me to invoke that pearl ´condition only matters when you have one´ and at $1 each I wasnt going to leave them :dude:
After last week´s toyfair I have more than enough new toys for my christmas :hat: so I am grateful and look forward to some greater finds in 2008.
Anybody else getting themselves Lesneys for christmas ???????????????

I love the silver VW Truck. I had the Siku years ago. My Dad drove the real thing. When he died he was burried with that Siku. Memories...

Good story - when I die I plan to be cremated - but perhaps I should pick a couple of my favourite childhood diecast to be buried on my favourite peice of land in my memory by my family -my wife already knows the diecast are worth plenty so as not to give them to goodwill :freak: but she will probably crush a couple of my worthless 1:1 project cars unless I get them done....

Also made in red as far as I know.VW called all German production ´Caddy´ because the sedan (US Rabbit) is called Golf. A fine casting in 1/55 -I have found 5 other Caddys all quickly sold
Lummox - try to google home.railscene.com and then when on the site look for Gary´s Cars

Congrats on some nice finds!
The ones that draws my attention is the GPW and SPW Lomas Ambulances!
Please do not repaint those, they are way to HTF to mess with :drunk:
Here are my Lomas Ambulances, and yes, all doors are there :p The GPW is the worst conditioned MB I got!

Lummox - I dont know about any Marx cars - there is a Tins Toys Fiat Dino on the left at the back,a vhtf 1960s Majorette Panther Bertone on the right(le Mans racer??), and the 2 dark orange cars at the front are a Ford Granada and a Porsche 911 from Schuco

I used to watch Space 1999 on TV every saturday morning when it was on in the late 1970s -nothing wrong with your memory 70XR7 -it is indeed an Eagle - an upgrade for me - only $10 :) Airfix also made the Eagle and its cousins the Swift and the Hawk from the same show
Karl -I wont repaint these but i may swap these fine baseplates onto better tops in future ;)

Yeah, the LeMans type car. I've got a Marx Ford J Car (Lemans type as well)
and the wheels look identical to yours.
I wondered what that Dino was too.
