MARCUS 12-11-2007, 03:21 AM Has anyone else drove these vehicles and if you did, what do you think of them? Need your input.
Thx All!
Somebody had one of the truggy at the track one afternoon.... To be kind it was garbage. Materials and craftsmanship was below par with toystore construction. It handled very poorly, had minimal set-up adjustments, and fell apart rather quickly, a few laps. I tried to help and with the limited manual the owner was very pissed.
Don't know about the truggy but I just bought a Hurricane pro and I am impressed to say the least. I have run a Kyosho MP6 as well as a Mugen MBX4R and this is my favorite.
The materials and build quality are equal to my Kyosho and is fully adjustable. The icing on the cake is the price. To be fair the radio is a crappy am but at least it has endpoint adjustments. Also, from other peoples experiences, some mp7 parts are a direct fit.
Not a sales pitch at all..just my 2 cents

MARCUS 12-16-2007, 01:29 AM Moat of your off brand RC, does come w/a crappy radio and gear, but other than that i think the RED CAT vehicles, are a better breed for the monies. Not saying, that they will get you to the winners circle, but the can get you in the game at a much lower price. The prices, of the Better/Nmaed Brand RC, is just too expensive for some folks. This way new comer, can get into the game and see if it's for them.....rather then spending top of the line moni and then find out, that this is not for me. Just trying to make dollars & cent.....make sence. :)
MARCUS 12-20-2007, 06:54 PM Here's the thread. read and please reply with honesty....that's what's it's all about.

S. Jerusalem 12-21-2007, 02:24 PM How about moving this to the for sale area. Putting it here is a whole different set of rules. I'm holding back, as is.

For the money? Maybe the best.
Is it the best option for a new racer to see if he would like racing NO! If he found out that racing involved repairing his car or truck at each race He would have 2 options. Fix or upgrade. How many time do you fix it? or what does he upgrade it to?
OK now he decides not to race anymore. Sell it for how much? Less than 1/2 of the cost for sure.
Other story....He started with a better car and had less problems with it and decided to not race and sold it he would get a better return without a total loss and I'm sure that there would be more buyers willing to buy it. So a new racers would be better off buying something that would at least offer him a chance at getting some of his money back. Also if he started with a better quality car he might not get upset like he would trying to keep a poor quality car running. This in turn would make racing more fun and he might stay into racing.
I have seen these poor quality cars pushed all over the web on many boards.
You came here asking what we felt about them in your quote above. So far most have told you what you wanted to know. JUNK!
This is not a sales area.
You wanted answers of what we thought about their products. My feeling.....You should quit selling them as well as others and let Walmart take over with whats left and let their customers have them at a price that the are really worth.
If someone wanted a cheap way into racing to see if they would like to race they would be better off buying a used good car of much better quality. At least they would be able to sell it and not suffer a great loss.
Bmaroney 12-21-2007, 03:59 PM To be honest I have never heard of Red Cat racing. I have been racing for 3 yrs and all I race is nitro off road. I started out with Jammin X1 and when Losi came out with the 8ight I switched right away. I now run the 8ight and 8ight T. After viewing some of the posts from people, don't worry about what the hell they have to say or how they criticize your product. I know people just like them, they have run maybe one or two different brands and think that their car is better than everyone elses. I can honestly say its not the car that is going to perform well, it is going to be the driver and how consistent the driver is. If your car breaks, thats your fault, LEARN HOW TO DRIVE! Don't blame it on the car because you put it in a wall or because you don't know how to tune. I have raced 2 different brands and still don't have a favorite because well, both performed well and I never had problems, so for those of you who race and blame it on the cars, take a step back and maybe reflect ON HOW GOOD OF A DRIVER YOU REALLY ARE because its never the cars fault. The car does what you want it to do. But as far as RED CAT, I def. think you guys have something going for you, just keep it up and like I said who cares what other people think as long as you think you have a well rounded car.
vn1500 12-21-2007, 04:33 PM Yes the car will only do what you make it do but there are alot more factors your not equating into it
1 quality and durability of parts
2 ease of use
3 parts support (in the area)
4 assistance (at the track) with repairs ,tuning ,parts from people running that model
5 set-up
6 hop-ups
I'm not bashing red cat or you just saying I personally started nitro with a GS Storm (entry level car) and after a year of wondering why I was stuck running the same laps and times and breaking the same parts (not from wrecking just clearing 28' table tops and 6' up of air) I graduated to an MBX5R gained 2 laps the second time I ran it with the motor ,pipe ,electrics ,and tires from the Storm , due to more suspension droop ,better steering ackerman ,more toe adjustment in the rear ,bigger bore longer travel shocks ,and better weight displacement meaning better jumps ,easier landings ,faster steering ,more on power steering and more durable parts. All adding up to better lap times ,higher finishes ,finishes period ,and honestly more enjoyment. Sorry fo the long post hope this adds something to yours or anybody else's desicion.
S. Jerusalem 12-21-2007, 05:35 PM Sounds like Bmaroney is looking for a sponsorship.

Dont need a sponsorship bud, but I wouldn't mind out driving you any day
Bmarney. your point is well taken.
I answered the question that was asked.
I have over 30 years in the rc market. There have been many entry level cars and trucks come out. Most are gone now also. The reason is bad product quality. You buy a entry level car thats what you get. A new racer though thinks he has bougt the best thing in the world just because it is the car he decided to buy. Do a search on vintage cars and trucks and see how many you find that are still producing them. This is why I think entry level racers are not good for someone planning on starting racing. Use those type of cars for fun running or bashing. Just when it breaks plan on long down times until you get replacement parts. When the company folds then what?
As for your racing I have no idea how good you are. So saying that could outdrive anyone really get away from the topic of this thread. You ability might be really good and possibly can out drive people but this does not prove anything about redcats.
Marcus asked what people thought about redcat racing. I gave him my thoughts on this product.
Bmaroney 12-21-2007, 06:22 PM Maybe this product is an entry level product, maybe its not, I don't really know, but what I do know is when I give my input on a thread I try to not leave anything out. I have my input though about this product, I think its great that there are more companies competing in a large growing hobby. But when someone takes my input to the level of wanting a "sponsorship" is completely off the topic of the thread, which is why I said what I said. I know there are people that I can out drive, bt theres always someone better than you and better than them.
feaga89k 12-21-2007, 07:01 PM aww come on guys red cats are sweeeeeeeeeet
Stateline R/C 12-21-2007, 10:56 PM its not about a rich guy... far from it. its about seeing people at the track getting frustrated because they cant run 3 laps without their cheepo built car breaking and not being able to find any parts for it. the RED CAT may be a fine ride but im bettin its nothing you would see at the track with much success. not our track anyway.
TOYMINATOR 12-21-2007, 11:20 PM I saw one of the 1/10 buggys at Joliet for the first time,it was really durable and that kid was putting it through hell! I was pretty impressed with it for being such a cheap vehicle. He was putting it through the paces and giving it a beating. He finaly broke a shock after half a day off every pipe and board on the track. For $139.00 how can you go wrong as a beginner. Shure it is a very cheap way to see if you are going to stick with it. A good cheap setup would run you $500-$700 on the low side.It is a great deal if you dont want to race. You put it on Ebay for what it sells for and you are out $90 at most. Instead of hundreds of dollars. Just my .02 cents.

I'll be in the Ft. Wayne area for some indoor dirt at some point this winter. Let's see if you can back that up. See if I can beat "The Prodigy".

MARCUS 12-22-2007, 07:04 PM Hey guys, this thread, is not hear to SELL anything. We wanted an input on the quality of these vehicles. We are trying to push these units, on the people, who don't have the Kyosho, Ofna & Mugen monies. We appreciated all of your input. It's doesn't ust matter what we think....it's all in the whole, that makes it round. :)
Thx All!
MARCUS 12-22-2007, 07:18 PM Stateline......no hard feeling taken!!!

"2008"
Uncle E 12-25-2007, 07:48 PM I have an Exceed dynamite which is the same as a redcat Tornado, a 4wd 10th scale elec. I have run it 3 times at Battle front in Grandville. I have put in tops 20 laps and have ordered parts 3 times! I think they are built for anything BUT a race track. I bought the truck to figure out what I wanted to do and it served that purpose, but is worthless with out about $250 in up grades to aluminum. Now, the purpose is served is that I'll go out and get the Losi xxx-t cr for racing and the new E-maxx for bashing. This Exceed will simply be the bast... child that I will always have a soft spot for and will eventually turn to all aluminum. This is the real deal and you can see the truck try and run a lap at BattleFront but come early and don't blink!

MARCUS 12-26-2007, 05:57 PM Thx Uncle E! HAPPY HOLIDAYS :)
