View Full Version : MB Fords...
burneyreid 12-08-2007, 02:13 PM Occasionally it's nice to happen across a rare model at a toyshow venue for a reasonable cost ,such as 50 cents, or even a dollar ...sometimes it's nice to purchase an attractive re-creation from good friends too.
Here's a few of the real deals in played with condition along with some great looking restos all purchased for surprisingly reasonable (cheap) prices.
I hope you enjoy the pic...I'm not a photographer as that's evident.

Lummox 12-08-2007, 03:13 PM Well thanks Burney for sharing these with us.
Something about the ones with the really uncommon colors just does something to me.
Added allure to an allready alluring model.
Has anyone ever determinded about how many yellow GTs were made?
Now...I wonder, would these gift pck cars ever have made it to the store as a boxed single?
Probably not, huh.
Did the yellow GTs ever have labels or allways decal?
It'd be fun to make a thin wheeled Superfast yellow GT-40 clone!
While we're talking about rare colors - wasn't there an orange #19 Lotus from a gift pack?
Anyone have one of those???
The Moutain 12-08-2007, 03:59 PM very nice group, red rw mustang. if that was 50 cents to a dollar, nice. :woohoo:
when there some models are so rare they command a premium price in lesser conditions, i wonder how much of a price on near mint examples of such models. then you would run into nobody believing it was original. :)
JunkMan 12-09-2007, 03:23 PM I wish I could find a RW Orange Mustang with Red interior LOL - neato...
here is a Orange Lotus Lummox...

My only Orangeish-Redish Mustang in my collection, and since they are doing almost 400 on EBay as of Friday nite (really shocking), I don't think I will look there for any color(shade) variations soon LOL

JunkMan 12-09-2007, 03:37 PM BTW Lummox...The Orange Lotus was a gift pack car, But it was also released as a stand alone boxed. I do think it was just excess stock and was very limited in its stand alone release...

Lummox 12-09-2007, 04:49 PM  YAY!!!
Thanks Junkman for the pics and the history lesson. Great as always.
Two different shades even!
I realy like my open wheeled racers - the mib Lotus I've had since new(paper label)
with a fleet of other #19s(race-worn) including the Aston Martin like in Toms pic
which sometimes borrowed it's #52 decal from the #52 B.R.M.
#73 Ferarri is another beaut. The yellow Maserati is the only one I don't gots.
Allways though that one looked wicked numb with regular black plastic wheels.
Edit: What?!?! I just realized one of thoe orange cars is a BRM !!
I must have forgotten about that one. Now would that be much rarer than the orange Lotus?
Then I see you have aNOTHer orange Lotus there hiding behind the box.-
Is that the one you're going to sell to me? ;)
Seriously if anyone has any extra orange #19, 41, or 52s they would part with
please let me know - I don't care if they've been beaten with a rock! :freak:
The Moutain 12-09-2007, 07:16 PM very nice mustang, what a prime example.
a small variation with the 52 brm exhaust supports, small on the left and large on the right with large and small braces above the supports. thin and thick exhaust pipes with different spacing near the wheel arches. seems a little obsessive but the hubs can be rounded inwards or outwards. there are a couple of more i’ll try and get a good picture. :)

JunkMan 12-09-2007, 08:54 PM Very nice pictures Mountain....
Lummox....The Red BRM is (in my opinion) much harder to find than the Orange Lotus, It was exclusive to its gift pack, and I have always been under the impression it was exclusive to the set. My displayed Orange L is from my gift pack...the Orange one behind the box, is my boxed example, no differances in either tho.
SMS88 12-10-2007, 05:03 AM Euro beater box prices tend to be the same as 1 new HW mainline. The Mustang on the left cost me 40 cents back in 1978 from a school friend, the Mustang on the right cost me $1.70 8 days ago (I cut the tow hook off my 1978 way back then cos it looked ugly :freak:)
Not all kids bought Ford - these GMs are all 2006/2007 beater box finds that cost me $1 -$1.70 each - the 22 Crestas are better than nothing when all I have otherwise is a good all pink example - the gpw purple Pontiac with olive hood is htf in any condition, the spw was too good to leave although I do have a much better one already

Lummox 12-10-2007, 01:32 PM So the gpw Ponyak - that must be a Cuban Missile Crisis car.
Although technically it would have to be of late '59 manufacture because that's when the Embargo was.
That was that brief period when the US Army experimented with Army convertibles
put out by the Fukkstar Corp. Ok, I'm done.

Lummox 12-10-2007, 08:02 PM Good god man, that's just over the top!
That has to be amoung the many highlights of your collection. A real treat to see!
