View Full Version : 1/64 Pro Street Ram Mock up
LIGHTNING44 12-08-2007, 01:13 PM I started this project a little over a month ago and have been working off and on. It started as a JL Dodge ram vts from classic gold. It had some paint chips so i decided to do a complete over haul. Main thing i did was cut the hood off and made a complete fire wall and wheel wells. I also raised the back up some. The wheels are from a JL Volkswagon thing. The back tires are from a fast and furious dodge charger, and the front are also from the volkswagon. The engine came from the charger as well. This is just a mock up and is no where near finished. I still have to sand all the rough edges around the engine bay and do all the engine detail. It will hopefully be finished soon. And also, this was the first Johhny Lightning i ever bought. Enjoy

69Stang 12-08-2007, 01:34 PM Holy Smokes son! That is turning out to be one kickin' truck. The fact that it's also your very first JL casting makes it all the sweeter. I can't wait to see it finished. I have never done a drag truck, you just might have stirred something up here. Keep it up and keep us updated!
Lummox 12-08-2007, 03:57 PM That's what I like to see - jumping in with both feet for sure!
Anxious to see it completed!

That's a great mockup,How'd you remove the hood? What color will it be? Hemi? Or Magnum? Other tricks?
Looking forward to the finished custom. Pics,Pics,Pics...

I cut off the hood with a dremel cutting wheel. it was a bit tricky making sure i didnt cut into the main body. I then went back with a few different dremel sanders to get the sharp edges off. I still need to mold the firewall with the body. Should i just use bondo to do this? As for the color, im not really sure. I thought about painting it like it was before. Open to suggestions. I think im going to make the engine a Hemi. I still need to paint it, run some belts, and then some wiring.
Pics coming soon

xddorox 12-08-2007, 11:12 PM Very nice work so far. I know it's not that original, but what about red? Or one of those classic mopar wacky colors from the 70's?
grayhouse 12-09-2007, 03:39 AM Thats looking great LIGHTNING44. What are you planning to use for wheels, or are you planning on using those baby moons? As for a color how about yellow with black stripes and old school Super Bee graphics. Saw a dodge ram the other day with that paint scheme and I gotta say it looked damn nice.
stupidsquirrels 12-09-2007, 05:30 AM Excellent, I KNOW that was a lot of careful work!
Can't wait to see the finished truck!
My suggestion for the paintjob;
Duplicolor Mirage purple green flip!
