The only other DVD of mention was the original Dead Zone (Walken) for the same price...never seen it so I passed on it...is it worth owning, or just worth a Netflix?

One of the better King adaptations IMHO. Haven't seen it in years though.

Another recommendation here. Especially at that price.

VERY worth owning. Cronenberg hired out, so it's not exactly one of his (meaning it's accessible to people who don't care for his usual choice of material), but his stamp of quality is all over it. Toprate performances, cinematogrpahy, art design - well, everything really.

Personally, I'm still hoping someone will release it with a director's commentary, but unfortunately Paramount sees Stephen King as it's own only marketing point.

Alrighty then, I'll snag one next time I'm there. Oh yeah, there is one other title: I MARRIED A MONSTER FROM OUTER SPACE. Haven't seen that oldie moldie but have heard it's rotten. Nice packaging, tho.

Actually, hilarious title notwithstanding, I Married a Monster From Outer Space is one of the better "B" sci-fi movies of the 1950s. It's surprisingly good.

And yet another movie recommendation for I Married a Monster From Outer Space. As Zorro says, it's surprisingly good for a B-Movie from that era. Better than most junk that seems to meet the same B-Movie standard today. It's also one I need to add to my collection.... :(

Add my vote for "I Married....", one of the better B pictures.

I stopped at our local Big Lots Sunday and they didn't have any of the mentioned DVDs - darn!

I picked up "I married..." well over a year ago but I've never watched it. I guess now that the writer's strike is settling in, I'll have to tear off the cellophane and throw it in the player.

Thanks! There's another Big Lots in the other direction. If I don't have any luck there I'll email ya.

Just watched it - it IS very well done; love the bleak, subdued tone and look of the whole thing. Would like to find the soundtrack, too.

What struck me as odd - not bad, just odd - is how Cronenberg used essentially the exact same shot to end THE FLY as he did DEAD ZONE.

But yep, was worth gettin'.
