It's been said that carb cleaner takes off tampos. How do you apply it, with a brush, or do you dip the casting in it? Then does the tampo just rub off?
Any help would be GREAT.

Also, any suggestions on how to take the shine off the finish so the casting looks dull? I've tried a couple different things, but no luck.

I'd be using a Q-tip with the carb cleaner.
I use Testors Dullcote to knock down the shine.
Look for e-mail soon, I got tied up going to the doctor and such.

just don't let it get on the windows!

Also, it will remove headlights, tail lights, door handles, strips, logos, etc... so you gotta be careful if you are trying to preserve the car as those are all technicly tampos.

i use ACETONE or fingernail polish remover and many many Q tips (if one gets a tiny bit dirty i grab a new one) i just wiped off a yellow green light 2008-09 challenger of all the black and yellow nasty stripes on the roof, hood, and trunk 25 Q tips at least, but it looks great!

fingernail polish remover seem more easy going on the base paint under the tampo's. beware of 2 tone paint cars though it will take off the secondary color as well.
