Alright, I'm thinking hard about picking up a sprint car.. And have found;
Pro1
WCM
and Bullseye
All of these look great from what I can see.
Are there more out there? Where could I find 'em?

In smaller scale rc I can usually find all kinds of reviews and coverage of a given car.. But haven't had much luck for 1/4 scale.

This being new to me, I'm trying to get as much info on these cars as I can before I sink the dough into one.
I'm not trying to start a 'this vs that' thread.. Just trying to get up to speed with my options.

So, if you guys can point me toward more info, it would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Victor: There was a sprint car for sale by Renracer earlier on this board. It was an excellent buy. A very fast car for sure. Ready to run with electronics installed. One thing you should consider is where you race what is the favored car. Will you be able to get parts at the track or be able to borrow a part. I race a WCM sprint car with a few modifications of my own. Alot of the guys I race with run WCM because they know I have parts with me. All cars have good and bad points to consider. i feel that for the money WCM is hard to beat. They have been around the longest and i have always had good service from them. Fred

The dirt nationals results are located in the forms center under the newsletters link:
http://www.qsac.org/about/newsletters.html

The newsletter with the results is 2007 number 4:

One of the things I like to see changed for upcoming newsletters is that what car was driven by what driver. I just read the results myself and a newbie like me as well don't know who these drivers are and what they drive. It would be helpful if the manufacturer was listed as well so we can see as an overall what car is winning the most or placing in top 3-5 to help further with making a decision on purchasing a new car for guys like the OP, myself and others looking to get into the hobby.

I hear ya on that, but all I can say is we can only print the stories we have. It's kinda hard to research all the details of a story to include the information you are talking about, unless it is included. Scott does an awsome job putting the newsletter together and sometimes it is like pulling teeth to get a story about a race, much less the make, numbers, and how the race was and so forth.

We'll try to do better, but if you have questions about specific car, there are people here that will respond.

From my experiance, it really dosen't matter all that much as to which car you buy/drive. working on the chassis is the key. Rodger Newell is one the fastest if not the fastest guy out there. Brent Gottfried, Mark Aldrich and Mike Reniger are all the top guys in the country. Same thing with the Hilber gang and Scott George. All 3 are top guys in the country. All have beatten each other on a given day. Here are the chassis as far as i know:

Grand National or Sportsman
Roger Newell WCM
Brent Gottfried Gram Cracker
Mark Aldrich Gram Cracker
Mike Reniger Home Made
All 3 Hilbers Pro1
Scott George Pro1

For Sprint cars
Randy Baker Home Made
Fred Murry WCM

I don't know everybody, but I do know that PRO1 bought out Belfab sprint cars and is producing those units as well. Lightning is a good car. The Gram Cracker car is a great car, I don't thing he makes sprint cars and I don't think you can get a grand national anymore, or it's real rare.

Again, i would take all this at face value and I may be mis-informed about some of the facts, but i think this is pretty close. You all can chime in if you know something I don't

Hope this helps you in your 1/4 scale purchase. All I can tell you is, thatever you get, you will have the time of your life. It is a great sport and deffinetly tests your skills. Good luck and don't hesitate to ask questions....

Hi 6victor6...

We came out with the Bullseye Sprintcar after the 07 Dirt Nationals....

Our Team plans on making it in 08......

1st race at the Midwest Nationals in Boise Idaho, Bob Bates was Top Qualifier and won the main Event......was top qualifier and ran 2nd in the Main at Las Vegas Super Nationals

Also our Cars are Very Durable ....We have Flipped one end over end (on a Pavement Track) landing on a concrete wall and into the Chain Link Fence... only bent 2 heim joints and a Shock Collar slid around the bar...frame was not bent, put on new heims and adjusted the Shock Collar and the Car was back on the track, and handled Great as before....Actually we were surprised that none of the 4 link bars bent

I am not saying they can't be bent up, Sprintcars in General are more Fragile than Stockcars but I know for a fact the Bullseye can take a Hit.....We designed them that way

I have seen other cars Bent up in such a Crash...I will not Stoop and say which one,

Glad to see you wanting a Sprintcar, our Car or another Manufacturers Car it don't matter.....Just glad to see guys wanting Sprintcars again

Yep, true that, Bullseye looks to be a contender for sure.

Like I said, it really dosen't matter which one you go for, welcome to the sport. Wish I had the time and money to get a sprint this year. ho well, maybe next year...

TQ 07 Dirt Nats. – 1st Lance Jones Pro1, 2nd Scott George Pro1, 3rd Randy Baker home built.

Fastest lap ever turned @ Shaffer and Naugle Speedway (Both Dirt tracks) Tony Masiello & Scott George both Pro1’s. Track Champions at Naugle Speedway John Walker & Scott George with Pro1’s. Fastest lap turned at the 07 dirt nats Jamie Belfoire with his Belfab car (Now owned and soon to be built by Pro1).

John Pipchok won the A-main with a WCM, Randy Baker & Todd Hollaway (wcm) were 2nd & 3rd. Some of the fastest cars DNF……Point is; these cars are all good cars and are all very capable of winning races on any given day. It’s all in what “you” like, but like Jim Bell said, “All I can tell you is, thatever you get, you will have the time of your life. It is a great sport and deffinetly tests your skills”.

Lets race!

Four of the top six at the Dirt Nationals were WCM , one PRO1 , One home made ( WIP ) . No matter what the brand , all the makes are good cars . Each one in it's own right has some of it's own special qualities . And recently I see more brand names are coming out on the market , which is good for our hobby/sport . What ya need to do is pick one that suites your fancy and make it work for you , which makes up alot of the fun . There's a few out there to choose from , let your credit card be your guide . Know what ya mean about the credit card , I have a couple pairs of jeans with the wallet pocket burned out of them . Have fun picking out a car , and just to remember to have fun.
Randy
