View Full Version : Dragtor custom
dusrusg 12-07-2007, 12:39 AM So I picked up the new dragtor about a month ago, and got it home, and freed it , and got to thinking as I looked at it, and promptly borrowed (stole) one of my son's trucks and started surgery.... After a little bit of painting, and some fancy work with the newest in die-cast photobooth (with the same, crappy old camera), here she is in all her glory!

dusrusg 12-07-2007, 12:40 AM Well, now that the teaser is out of the way, have a look....

The truck started life as a cheap plastic ERTL, but its body composition made it easy to carve without need of a repaint...
I wish I could show you the engine detail a little better, but alas, my lass lost our good camera last summer. We're pretty sure she left it at her parent's place and it grew legs with some of the riff-raff that walks in and out all the time....
(grumbledy-gook....)
Lummox 12-07-2007, 01:54 AM    :D Dang dude, I absolutely love this thing!!!
Man, you got some creative streak! The rear tires are great.
So is the Dragtor some HW thing or something?(donor)
I am impressed with this Bob!
bubbabearde3 12-07-2007, 02:24 AM Pretty cool, that gives me some ideas for a sled puller.
Great job
MIKE
69Stang 12-07-2007, 06:55 AM Oh man! What a freakin' cool truck!
You know, I look for three things in a custom...a good idea, good execution, and strong presentation. Well, you hit a home run! It does scream some type of insane tractor pull, or sand racer! Go borrow a better camera and hit us again!!!
Great work.
dusrusg 12-07-2007, 03:13 PM Thanks for the encouragement!
Lummox, the dragtor is, indeed a hotwheels, like this:

Thanks South Texas Diecast
The wheels, amazingly enough, are what comes on those trucks. I just had to put singles on the front....
Bubba, I'm pretty sure a 'puller is what I had in mind. Not positive, as the only coherant thought went something like, "Hmm, that's a nice big diesel. I should use that in a truck. A semi. No, something more interesting. Time to check Steve's room for donors...."
Now I need to find/make a sled....
Stang, if I find a better camera to borrow, I will definitely be doing that. I'd borrow my mom's, but she gave me our nice (missing) one and doesn't know it's missing yet. I'd rather she not be mad at my wife, so.....
Maybe Church's is better and easier to work with... I'll have to check it out. (I'm the youth minister, so it shouldn't be a problem to borrow it from ... myself?)
Thanks again for the great comments!
jedimario 12-07-2007, 04:00 PM Wow, pretty sweet.
