Just thought this one was different. I have NEVER seen this in a sealed, retail package...it's the '66 Dodge Coronet (stock version) from the MCG 4 release.
That's right...a hand written number. I just thought that was so odd I had to pick it up.

Also in the same box....now think about that, the same box....was this MCG 4 release of the stock '63 Chrysler 300 J

"Hey boss, we done did all the cars in the production run...what do we do now?" "Oh...just run a few more thousand and hand write something, or not." :p

I've saw some of the hand written number before on some of the other series that Greenlight has put out. I don't know the reason for it. The 300J looks like it was facing the wrong way when the number was stamped. That could happen anytime.

My guess is the run is the correct number of pieces + or - a very small percentage. There may be a problem with the numbering mechanism and when it's caught by QC they take the best corrective action they can. In this case, they grabbed a sharpie and put the appropriate number on them. I guess the 300J was stamped backwards. Very weird to find these both in the same lot.
Maybe they should bag the white boxes and use WHITE ink for the serial numbers on the black bases and BLACK ink on the silver bases.

Hey guys, good catch on the 300J! I never even noticed that the number is on the other side! Good eyes! That's one explained!
Mike, you could be right on the other, but I still have never seen one hand written. And that number would be at an odd point in the chain to be hand written. My only guess was maybe the stamping machine was down, and someone was over there trying to keep up while they were fixing it.

OK, That's just cool. though I have to wonder about the number. Was it really 1971, or did the guy in the plant just think that was fun? :freak:
But I still like it!
