thanks for the link it shows off the car quite well, usually I won't buy die cast that expensive offline without seeing them first but with a preview like that I most likely will when I find a good price

That General is pretty sweet! Anyone know what they will be selling for?

How is it different from the earlier release?

Old Macdonald,

If the current batch of Authentics/original models is any indication - they will be a big improvement. I'm not sure if you're familiar with Highway 61's stuff or not but they are on level with them as far as detailing. My Authentics all have the upper end typical features: Very accurately plumbed and detailed underhood, realistic carpet and seats, decaling underhood/in door jambs/trunklid underside, seatbelts, rotating driveshaft. But on these cars they add in little touches that really add up: moving shifters, opening/closing glove boxes, reworked underbodies. For example take my Monte Carlo SS by Authentics, it's a T-top car that has removable tops and when you open the trunk there's even the vinyl GM bag to store the tops in! There's even a "donut" sized spare in the trunk. As far as underhood goes, that particular car is impressive too. I have 5 examples of Authentics releases now and I highly recommend them and yet I wouldn't buy ANY of the normal Ertls except maybe to mod. Hope this helps ya out.

Just got mine. Very detailed. I only paid $59 plus shipping for it.(most sites are asking $79-89 for it) You can get it at www.diecastmusclecars.com Great price for a super detailed car. I do wish though that the Charger moniker was a chrome piece rather then painted on. But at this price this car is super detailed. Getonenow they are disappearing fast.

Thanks to my sponsor Pro-Models, I now have in my hands RC2's new American Muscle Authentics version of the General Lee. Boasting 200 parts, I had to do a side-by-side comparison of the Authentics version to the earlier American Muscle version. At first glance, the cars appear to be very similar. But when you put them side-by-side, the first thing you notice is the richer, deeper orange paint job on the Authentics version. Then you notice the text on the roof of the car is blue, as opposed to the black font on the older model. Popping the hood, there are noticeable differences in the details of the engine. I tried to compare the trunk interior on both cars, but the older version's trunk didn't even open. And finally, you really see the attention to detail when you peek at the interior of the car. The older version doesn't have a back seat! The Authentics version has a fully-detailed interior, complete with seatbelts. And finally, I discovered the headlights rotate to be either exposed or concealed. In summary, the new Authentics version is the ultimate version of arguably one of the most famous cars of all time. The price is fairly reasonable to have a car of this amount of detail. I'm sure this car will sell out quickly.

Swap and Sell section. The price you want for it though, ($350.00+shipping) is quite high for that casting. If you are looking to make your high asking price throw it on eBay. Who knows, you might get lucky.
