View Full Version : BSG: Razor question
sbaxter 12-06-2007, 03:31 PM A friend of mine has been catching up with Battlestar Galactica via the DVDs, and he just recently finished the second season. He has a copy of "Razor," but he's unsure whether he should watch it before he sees the third season. I haven't seen it myself yet, so I couldn't tell him for certain. I believe it is mainly set just after Lee Adama takes command of the Pegasus, with flashbacks to earlier days aboard same, but does it have any potentially spoilerish stuff relating to season three?

Griffworks 12-06-2007, 03:47 PM Honestly, I've not watched the episode yet, but from all I've heard/read and seen he should be just fine watching it. Nothing appears to be a spoiler for Season Three that I've yet seen from screengrabs nor from what folks have mentioned.

Mostly no spoilers, with a big HOWEVER.
Based on what the producers say about Razor and certain "information" about a certain character (true or not), Razor really should be watched after the 3rd season. The reason is: this "information" is hidden from the other characters on the show and is intended to throw a wrench into the works of the audience's perception of this character. I think watching Razor before the end of the 3rd season would change to context of the revealed info.
My $0.02
It's hard to write about it without spoiling it.

Honestly, I don't think it's a big deal. I think the context of that info will only really apply to Season 4, anyway (if it's the Razor info that plays into the final scene of Season 3, and that's the only thing I can think of to which John would be referring above).
El Gato 12-06-2007, 07:55 PM I think that Razor was a "do over" for the producers. It was obvious they wanted to send that certain character on a story arc.... Later, they realized they could do something else with it, so Razor was a way to cast the events of Season 3 in a different light. My honest opinion is that the new information by itself is not spoiler-ish, like Justin said; however, if you want the full effect of the revelation, then it's best to watch it after S3.

Of course, I disagree. To get that info at the beginning of S3 rather than at the end could change the way a viewer sees that character throughout all of S3, not just for the final scene of S3. Again, I don't recommend seeing Razor out of order for the "catching up" viewer who wants the same experience I and others have had who've watched the episodes in sequence.
