View Full Version : OFF TOPIC: Why/How this is Happens to our Threads of a given topic

The title states the purpose of this thread; it is strictly in place to discuss why/how a thread, any thread for that matter, gets off topic.

If this thread gets off topic, I will be forced to start a yet again new thread; a thread about why my thread for talking about why/how other threads get off topic actually got off topic.

Now, on with the topic..., before I get sidetracked and talk about something that may be related to why/how we get off topic, but maybe not directly.

YA It's the fun of message boards.
Now if this wasn't everyone being friends and chatting about the sport they love, then the board would be dead besides the one person that would pop on and ask what kinda car to get? or my motors not running right. what to do?

To me off topic is talking about HALO 3 on this board.

Big Maestro-

I figured you'd be on board!!!

I hope you see my humor in all of this. I also hope you can see my support of the principle of a conversation; it can have a mind of it's own and can branch off into sub-topic of the original conversation(s).

Oh, crap, that's not what this thread was about!!! I got off-topic!!!

SORRY!!!

:)

joe, I can take it. we're all friends here. That was what my original gripe was, that we can stray very quickly and not really know it. But you can get some good conversation out of it usually. Now what was this thread about again? :p

When topics stray it's because they are pretty much exhausted in depth. Many new ideas, thoughts and discussions sometime form off of an original topic that can offer a world of good information.

I would rather have a topic stray a bit and learn from the good information as I would have it hold the line and become dormant and fall way down the pages to never be seen unless someone is bored out of their minds needing material to read.

So, if your topic strays a little and it does not correct itself, politely ask it to be placed back on course. Hank can help if it gets too far out. Come on...be open minded & you might learn something you didn't know from these "off topic posts"

ALRIGHT, we now have a winner!!!

Tim's summarization is exactly why this satirical thread was started!!!

There IS so much to be gained. The carb thread got off topic, but there was conversation about the restrictor plates, too much horsepower and other side topics of benefit. Granted, it was not what the title stated, but there was much to be gained.

And to further Tim's point, if we get too far out of line or "personal" in our dialogue, we have Hank to keep us in line.

Have a great night guys. I get so much from this conference and I thank all of you for your contributions.

I agree joe, only problem is I cant come up with what I want to say in writing. Tim summarized it perfectly, no way I could have come up with that.

Thanks Tim, well said.

here's something off topic. I think these cars are the coolest. I cant wait till I find the grand national version of this car like Dave has. I have never seen these cars until recently and somehow ended up with two of them.

Those were the good old days of heavy metal bands.
