oh......I though we were talking indoor off road for the winter. I guess I had heard that you guys were no longer running oval races. Maybe I heard wrong. Outdoor would be cool too though.

1/8 scale buggy and Aerena Truck will be the largest classes most weeks.

I assumed it was indoor as well. I guess out door will be good to but there are only two days to split up between the local tracks (2 hr drive)

we have plenty of room to build a big track out back that way we can race many differant tracks many differant ways

Indoor offroad elec. would be sweet. I need a good reason to buy a new ride.

General, we're talking about Walts old place on 224 correct? Are you going to be the new owner of the hobby shop and race tracks located on the property? I know many people that would put up nitro for the winter season to run electric at a local track. It would put less miles going back and forth to Columbus, Ashtabula, PA, or MI.

yes I,m gonna take it over and i'm trying to figure out if i can get enough racers to do an offroad inside.

i was planing on doing carpet oval/roadcourse ,but there was a lot of replys about indoor offroad.

Well lets put it this way.....from what I hear The Gate is lucky to get 20ish racers Ashtabula (indoor off road) has been at or over 50 for most of the season. Ryan runs a nice show and puts down good layouts. And that turnout is the electric racers only.

On-road is VERY expensive. I think this is one of the reasons for low turnouts at the gate.

Just a thought or two.......I still vote for Friday nights!!!!!

Brushless/Lipo has REALLY helped the electric off road turnouts!

With guys like Steve (MiniT76) saying they would shelf the Nitro stuff and run electric that shows you something. There are a lot of guys that run at Ashtabula that just like to race so if you don't run on the same day I am sure they would come out for a little more track time!

Indoor offroad would be dialed!! I never liked carpet, but I ran it for a little bit just cause it was so close. If you build it they will come!

The key to success is two fold:

1) Location

2) Good track

Not rocket science...people will come.

I did leave one thing out of my last post. Good heat is a must. But I think the building you are talking about had/has good heat.

What ever class that will run brushless lipo would be for me. No motor or battery war along with no problems for me. Only time will tell then finding out exactly what everyone would want to run.

Sundays wouldn't be too bad either.

I was thinking Have Fun and A-Town run on that day but I know Friday nights might not be the best for some but it is open. Well, Erie runs on that night but I don't think that is the area he will be pulling racers from.

Friday night works, but if it's Friday, it might as well be any other night of the week. Saturday night works too, I could swing by on the way from Ashtabula. And then I could still race one of the Y-town tracks on Sunday.

I'm almost sure the track will open the 2nd week of jan. road course will race either friday or sunday which ever you guys want the most. The track will be 36' ft. wid 90' long

Seems strange to me......On-road seems to be struggling.....at least around here it does. Off-road on th eother hand seems to be doing well.

If you look over on the on-road threads The woodville mall track got like 26 total entries for their first points race. Freddies sounds to be doing well...not even that good. As far as I know The Gate has seen low turnouts and the Champs are now over so the turnout will most likely go down even further. At least it has in years past.

Anyway, hopefully things will work out for him with the on-road deal. If not he can always haul some dirt in:thumbsup:

I believe on-road is struggling somewhat.

I run both off-road and 12th scale on-road, and it seams that off-road is the new thing to do for the time being. I think alot of it has to do with brushless/lipo coming into it's own. Yeah, they use it in on-road, but not as much. I could put a BL in my 12th, but I don't think that there are lipos to fit my car.

It is strange, I go to Toledo and there is mostly 12th. Go to The GATE and it is all TC.

Don't get me wrong, I think it is great the someone is taking over Classic. I ran there a few times in the mid '90s on a outdoor dirt oval. I just wonder if we have to many off-road tracks in this part of Ohio? As I count, we would have 5, some not open all year round, but you get my point. Again, it is awesome that we have that many to pick from. Maybe I am just thinking to much! LOL!

When are you thinking about opening? What ever you run, I have a car for. I wounldn't mind seeing Classic again after all the years.

It would be great if classic put an offroad in! I used to race carpet and dirt oval there WAY back in the day. Walt and his family were always great to me.

Maybe try to get in on the pro series this summer if there is one?

Now i can race a 2 different tracks when i head home :woohoo:

well guys in 4 weeks we will start bringing in the dirt for the new offroad track, as we go forward i would like to get your input on what all of you would like to see that way i can plan everything around all the racers. What do youguy's think, The dirt oval first , or the bumps and jumps?

Chris, I would think he's talking outside at this point. Seeing he's installed the carpet track inside already.
