hello, we are considering buying a slot car set for my son 5 years (brother 3 years). we spotted one called 'jiada' which seemed a reasonable cost for a new beginner. however, are we buying crud or is that okay for a little boy (and his father who is dying to race !!). what are your suggestions for my boy this christmas in relation to slot cars ??

If you want to go 1/43rd scale which I believe the Jiada is, you should go with Carrera Go!!!. The Carrera Go!!! cars will stay on the track much better and can run good right out of the box. The Jaida cars will require some tuning to run smooth, and will require more skill to keep the cars on the track.

Whatever kind you get adjust the metal braids on the bottom of the car so that they just hit the rails on the track without pudhing to front of the car up.

Carrera Go!!! does make battery powered sets and power supply powered sets. The battery powered set will be safer for a 5 year old.
