View Full Version : French Simca Collection
database43 12-03-2007, 04:42 AM hi there
Manufactured by Ixo, these models are available at Newstands. New issue every two weeks.
Let me know if you want to see more pictures of this Collection.
PWSchuh 12-03-2007, 10:04 AM IXO has been selling a lot of cool models on the newstands in Europe that I wish were available over here. Can't even find a list of them on the IXO website.

You won't see them on the Ixo website. Ixo is mainly working for Altaya France and Altaya Spain. Below are some websites related to newstands collections :

I've picked up a couple of the Altaya Simca collection - the 1301S & Murena. Others which I'll get are the Bagheera & Tagora (looking forward to the last)

Yes the Tagora is much awaited, although the real car wasn't a good seller !

I've bought IXO models of former Altaya models in the USA from Diecast Direct in Frankfort, Kentucky. Last time I looked, they had at least one Simca available. Make sure you get the special tool needed to release IXO models from the base of the display box. - ranchero -

Awesome, thanks for the links. I am looking to buy several of those if you have a source. Couldn't find them at Diecast Direct.
Lummox 12-04-2007, 12:35 AM That's one pretty little Simca!
I'd love to see more pics from this series!

I have a bunch of spare French Press models for sale/swap. Give me a couple of days to put together an illustrated list of what I have. I'll let you know when it's done

Cool! I am particularly interested in the Monte Carlo rally and Paris Dakar rally cars that have not already been released by IXO in their main line.
database43 12-04-2007, 08:32 AM This Régence was the top of the V8 Vedette range. It was designed by Ford France but marketed under the Simca label in 1955. Other V8 Vedette models (same body, different trims) were : Versailles, Trianon and Marly (station-wagon). In 1957 Simca launched the Ariane to replace the Trianon, available with a Simca 4 in-line engine, or the V8 Ford engine (Ariane 8).

Hey PWSchuh
I'm not set yet with my list of models, but in the meantime I found a link for you : http://www.collectionpassion.com/catalogue/produits_lots.asp. I don't know them but their prices sound reasonable

I should get the Bagheera, I've got the Norev version, but, the Altaya represents the later facelifted car - looks very good.
I'm trying to get hold of the Simca 1308 - trouble is the ones I've seen on ebay are too expensive, so far :)
Lummox 12-30-2007, 12:14 AM They're both just beautifull!!! The wagon isvery much to my liking.
Thank you for posting these!

This was our family car car in 1960. Do not know why my dad chose a Simca, except that it must have been very economical.

Was the Ariane sold in the US ?????
PWSchuh 01-21-2008, 11:46 AM Was the Ariane sold in the US ?????
Not that I know of. We did get some Simca's, but AFAIK it was only the smaller versions.
database43 02-11-2008, 01:58 AM Launched in 1958, the Présidence was Simca's answer to Citroën in the battle to supply the French government with luxury cars. It was based on the Chambord/Beaulieu. Bodies were made by Chausson and shipped to the Simca plants in Poissy where they received the mechanical parts and eventually finished by hand in a specific workshop in Nanterre (close to Paris). Only 1570 Présidence were made.

Lummox 04-07-2008, 02:34 PM Was the Ariane sold in the US ?????
It seems like back then we only got compacts from most non domestic automakers.
Most bigger European cars didn't make it here exept for the more up-market
type cars like Jags and Rolls Royces.

I wish you could show us too!
Maybe you could try loading them on the Photobucket site.
The pix can be resized there.
