Need some help with my seven year old son's slider car. He had his first race last night and had alot of problems with the car traction rolling. Would like to know what to do with the shocks springs oil etc. Also does anyone make a better shock than the stock one? He runs on a high bite carpet track and you have to run the stock rubber tires.

How tight are the corners, Get the car as low as you can. put some spacers in the shocks to only let the shaft come out so far whatever it takes to get desired ride height. I don't think the stk shocks are so bad, I bought some losi alum ones they are not any better by much. I've been running 3000 and 5000 silicone diff lube in my frts and 100 wt in the rears. Losi makes some stiffer spring sets, I took some side springs from a pan car and tried them seemed ok. I also put some lead stuck low on the inside of the body but I don't think it was far enough off center to make a real diff. I put heavier foam in the tires and doubled up the right side. The little track I've run on has a center of about 20' long and 2' wide so rolling over is a problem and mine still will with rubber tires so they have let us run foam.I think on a wider radius track you good get the rubber tires to work they do in Omaha. The sliders really steer into a corner hard try and get it so you can use alittle steering as possible. I don't know if any of this will help but it is the things I've done so far but would still like to get mine better also want to get on a bigger track to see what it does there. Guess it depends on what your rule alow also.

We have been playing with the sliders on carpet for some time. a stiff left rear shock helps alot and a lot of front camber. also wind tunnel springs work really well on the stock shocks. run the car outside and try to get the tires bald also put on the hard tires. If you super glue the sidewall of the front right tire that helps out as well

Oh I forgot one other thing place about 3 ozs of lead as far front and left as you can get it

about 5 degrees of right positive and left negative camber

Agree with UFC on those ideas...taking away side bite in tires will help with c/a on outside of tires. Had same problem last time in main with latemodel(couldnt change tires) But will run a different tire this next time.

We all use tape (electrical tape works) on the outside of the right front tire. I can dive into he corner full speed , hard left, and no more traction role. A piece about 1/4 inch wide works well.

i ran tire glue on the outside rib or far out side tread of the tire! on the rf only
100wt lf and rr
120 wt lr and rf
losi orange springs that came with threaded shocks
you may have to play with the glue start out with less and add more if still rolling! lower your ride height alittle will help also:thumbsup:

All these ideas are right on the money. If you go for the glue on the RF tire try about 1/2 of the side wall onto the tread area. Go about 3 or 4 "lines" of tread onto the tread surface. smooth the glue with a piece of plastic. Either a piece from an old parts bag or a small piece of lexan.

Now if you don't want to do the glue the electrical tape trick is a good bit easier. Go about 3 or 4 "lines" of tread onto the tire and make sure the end of the tape is facing to the rear of the car when it's at the top of the tire.

As for shocks with a small bit of work the associated 18 T shocks work they come in the standard plastic and a threaded aluminum version.

How about some dirt set ups? I have a terrible push. Cant make it turn. Running buggy tires on a packed clay/sand track. Large oval, 340 foot center line. Slightly banked turns. Very fast track. Any other info needed, please ask. Sorry for high jacking your thread. Dont see any other Slider questions being answered. Thanks!

I just got a mini slider and there's a lot of slop in the front wheels, the wheels themselves are sloppy and the steering where it hooks onto the servo saver is real sloppy. I don't see how you can get a decent set up without taking the slop out. What do you guys do to remedy this?

I did find some washers on ebay that were made to help with the loose wheels. There's also an aluminum steering set up, would it be a worthwhile investment?

UFC , are you sure about the 5 degrees positive right front camber and 5 degrees negative left front camber? positive camber is leaning the tire outward and negative is leaning it inward. I've never heard of running positive right front camber. I'm curious if this really works, I'd give it a shot if it does. but seems like the would cause even more traction roll.

pm this guy, his set up will have that slider driving like a pan car...
