I dunno, I like Bale, but unless they're going to do the Terminator in CGI, it's probably time to retire this franchise. Arnold was already looking a little too old in T3.

They have to put arnie behind them and look forward. The robots would be just metal skeltons at that time anyhow. It has to be 'the john connor saving humanity story', just like the first one was the sarah connor story.

It would be neat to have Franco as one of the first infiltrators with rubber skin and a big gun.

Arnold has come and gone. Considering that Skynet tried to infiltrate the Humans all the time, it stands to reason that all of the Terminators did not look the same, at least, on the outside. Hell they don't even know if it's a 101 or a T-800. I look forward to anything Bale does."They" meaning the Producers.

My favorite time travel adventure! I look forward to the continuation of the saga.

So far, in spite of Sarah Conners best efforts, the time line is basicly unchanged. It will be interesting if John Conner can correct his mistakes from T1 and fix everything.

Remember how Back to the Future seamed the 3 movies together? Thats what I'm hoping for. They could re-use Arnold footage that way too. Best of both worlds!

 Geesh I wish I could look half as good when I get to be that age! :p
Other than that I'm looking forward to the continuing saga.

quote" The Hollywood Reporter reports that Anton Yelchin (soon to be seen in J.J. Abrams’ “Star Trek” reboot) is currently in negotiations to play Kyle Reese. A younger version of the Kyle Reese played by Michael Biehn in the original “Terminator”, we would assume, as Yelchin is pretty young (he’s 19 years old).
But that’s not the really big news. Besides the fact that Paul Haggis (”Casino Royale”, “Crash”) is also in talks to come onboard to write the script, the article also tells us even more about the plot.

Christian Bale will play John Connor in the time-traveling third sequel to the 1984 sci-fi action film, produced by the Halcyon Co. and set for a Warner Bros. release in summer 2009.
Reese, one of the children who survived a machine-driven nuclear holocaust, befriends Marcus (Sam Worthington), an early edition of the Terminator cyborg played in previous films by Arnold Schwarzenegger.
In “Salvation,” the character is a young version of the one played by Michael Biehn, who traveled back in time in the original to impregnate Sarah Connor (Linda Hamilton) and father the world’s future savior.
The film picks up with their son (Bale), now in his 30s, fighting desperately to save a decimated civilization against machines that have taken control. It’s unclear if the father and child reunion is only a cyborg motion away in the new film."

Didn't I hear that McG - director of the Charlie's Angels flicks - was tapped to direct this..?

Why do they have them 'befriending' yet another Terminator? That's what made the first Terminator such a great film, the robot was merciless, deadly and could NOT be dissuaded from it's mission. We need to see that again. Forget the "robot with a heart".. I want to see a pure killing machine going after John Conner and Kyle Reese. They realize the only way to end things it to send Kyle back in time and when he enter the displacement booth, that is where the movie should end.

I'm not so sure if we even need another Terminator movie. Obviously the first two were good, and IMO, even the third installment-while it lacked the 'ummph' of the first two-wasn't terrible. But unless they've got something really, and I mean REALLY special up their sleeves, I'm afraid it could easily turn into another forgettable addition. We've seen what's happened to the Alien franchise when you don't know when to say 'when'.

I did not like AvP. No 2 was also nothing too special. It was unfortunate as there was so much potential. T3 started off well but the ending was not great. Interesting ending but somehow I think it could have been better.

I like the TV John Conner better then the T3 one.

I don't want to judge T4 yet but I sur ehope it has a good script.
