View Full Version : Green Machine Case
Phazer22 12-01-2007, 12:15 PM I dont know what is going on, but I found a case of GL's at Kmart today. All the cars were green machines. Although, no numbers on the base. All Mopars. Does anybody know if these are really green machines, or just a Kmart special color only?
69Stang 12-01-2007, 12:54 PM What a find if it's real Greens and not a promo like you pointed out. If I were a Green collector ( I have two) I would most likely be upset by it. It skews the numbers game and brings to question the 2% production validity. But still...what a find! How about a pic?

Im not convinced at this time they are GM's. Ive heard of three other cases like this. I guess the only way we'll know is if other Kmarts get regular assortments.
SSizler 12-01-2007, 01:25 PM JackpoT!!! :woohoo:
I have almost all of those in GM form, and they all look legit to me, except for the missing base numbers.
Congrats on your good fortune!
I paid just a "little" more for mine....
Jim
johnz28 12-01-2007, 01:26 PM wow , what a find.
STUTZ 12-01-2007, 02:20 PM FANTASTIC score!
GLH Turbo 12-01-2007, 03:03 PM I would have die and gone to heaven if I found a box like that.
Are you keeping them all? Trading? Selling? You have a PM.
prayingmantis 12-01-2007, 06:13 PM Congrats on your find !! That is great!
CTWLSMIKE 12-01-2007, 06:28 PM Holy CRAP Aaron! That may be the greatest find ever! Those are the Green Machine versions of those cars so it seems like they are legit. Maybe someone at Greenlight can chime in as to how they got out like that.
Congrats!
Phazer22 12-01-2007, 07:17 PM Ive replied to all that PM'd me. Im not sure what Im going to do with them yet. Im sure I could get me a Super TH Custom Chevy Ive been looking for, but on the other hand, I hate to get rid of such a find. :freak:
montegogt 12-01-2007, 07:52 PM Un-freekin-believeable!!!!
LIGHTNING44 12-01-2007, 08:01 PM  HOLY COW!!!!!!!!!!!! i cant find 1 let alone a full case. Congrats on the find
stupidsquirrels 12-01-2007, 09:05 PM Is it possible you've somehow scored pre pros (due to the lack of base #s?)
I know of at least 1 case where JL let a prepro series mockup out in the world, wound up on the peg in an outlet store.
JasonZ 12-01-2007, 09:06 PM Nice find!
ozmont 12-01-2007, 09:21 PM Also, aren't the little plastic base they sit suppose to say "Green Machine"?
Phazer22 12-01-2007, 09:49 PM The best I understand, this series didnt have the "Green Machine" sticker on the front. At least the ones I compared on Ebay didnt. As for pre-pros, I dont know. I also heard they could have been promo cars.
rarew30 12-01-2007, 10:55 PM Can we all say....BINGO!!!!
macnut 12-01-2007, 11:30 PM :freak: The Green Gods were looking down on you. Do you know what I would do if I would have found that case? After they removed the case out of my hands at the hospital, and I recovered from a heart attack, I'd do the green dance all the way home.
65mustang 12-02-2007, 06:16 AM Also, aren't the little plastic base they sit suppose to say "Green Machine"?
Not any more...I think
Wyatt 12-02-2007, 10:35 AM I would probably pass out if I came across something like that. After I came to, I'd buy them all, then go play the lottery.
astroking2 12-02-2007, 02:11 PM Correct, the MCG series 4 do not say "Green Machine" on the bottom.
This is a very strange find indeed. Never heard anything about it.
An accident from the factory maybe?
I doubt that they are pre production models. GL would hold on to those.
See you put them on Ebay. Good luck!!!
3rdCoastDiecast 12-02-2007, 02:38 PM I would have to guess its someone at the distribution here in the states, or someone at the factory and the cases didn't end up where they were supposed to, thus the reason that we have heard of 4 different incidents of full gm cases that are all the same. They could have been packaging runs, approval cars, etc... We won't know anything for sure until someone from GreenLight can chime in on this one
Firebirds 12-02-2007, 03:50 PM i bet its over production. if these arent prepros, which it doesnt look like since 4 of these have been found so far.
or maybe its a christmas present from greenlight thanking us.
hey GL send one to my town!

Cletuss 12-04-2007, 08:53 AM Wowzer , Congrads.
jedimario 12-04-2007, 11:48 AM Wow...don't tell me the GM is going the way of the TH :freak:
Quantum 12-04-2007, 12:26 PM lol - I was ready to bet it was an employee's "hide in plain sight special". But not with 2 instances...
Franklin2700 12-04-2007, 01:40 PM OK, so I'm guessing that these are going to be the new "Super" Green Machines - you know; shiny paint, rubber tires, no numbers...
Alright, I'm just kidding. But time to fess up - I found me a set of em' too. All 12 hanging on the peg at a little past the 10:30 coffee break. I asked around but couldn't locate the original box. Sure enough though, all 12 are Green and no numbers - and both Challengers are missing the white box for the number as well. Sure hope GL comes through with some sort of explanation...
As far as numbers, including my own, I figure 7 total sets have been publicly accounted for in 6 different states. 3 different ebay sellers have no numbered GM's and 4 people on this board and HWC have admitted to finding them as well. Hopefully we'll know more soon.
Franky
PS - My set is not for sale or trade.
 :dude: Congrats on your Find Also!!!!

They did. It's posted at the Under the Hood Club forum.
Maybe they will post it here also.
roadwarrior 12-04-2007, 08:57 PM Here's what was posted at GreenLight Garage
Greenlight has explained the error:
These cars were manufactured for our licensing partners and personal product documentation. We require 12 samples of each item we manufacture to be on hand for our licensor's (Ford, GM, Chrysler, etc.) at any given time, and in addition to that, we require additional samples for our own records as well. These cars were never intended to enter the marketplace, and it is only a result of an internal error that they were ever released to the public.
For all of you who have received the early Christmas gifts this year, congratulations...and Happy Holidays from GreenLight!

WOW - thats a pretty interesting piece of information! Thanks very much for sharing! Makes me wonder... just how many there are floating around out there? Probably never know, will I?
Thanks again for the info!
fuddmiester 12-05-2007, 12:48 PM They require 12 samples.... that means there should be 6 cases total, no?!
Franklin2700 12-05-2007, 01:49 PM Fudd,
Based on the 12 sample number, and additional samples to keep on hand, 12 looks like a minimum - but I wouldn't guess many more than that! Current count appears to be 7 found... hopefully people keep posting more info! I'd love to know just how limited the set is.
