From the guy who claims to have found the case
"Remember a few years back when a guy supposedly found a full case of RD Hunts? Well today I found a full case of Greenlight MCG series 4 cars. I opened the case and saw nothing but Green Machines! I even called Greenlight and talked to a guy in the Production dept. about my find. He has never heard of it happening and said he talks to alot of people. Even stranger is there are no serial #'s on any of the 12 cars. In fact the 2 Challenger Concepts dont even have the little white box where the #'s would be! He told me I was the luckiest collector in the history of Greenlight!"

I like the Large Green Dot on the inner.

Phazer22 12-01-2007, 12:38 PM Hmm, interesting considering, I found the exact case. This is a no crapper story either. My case is exactly like the one posted. Im starting to think they are a Kmart exclusive or something.
70XR7 12-01-2007, 12:53 PM All I can say is....wow.
NYSWLHUNTER 12-01-2007, 01:04 PM Kmart? green dot? -takes a walk to look at something-returns with green marker-pulls out used gl box-plants a large dot on box and adds 12 gms-retapes and goes to kmart and sits in car and opens box. I GOT ONE!
Franklin2700 12-01-2007, 01:19 PM Heads up, I See em on the bay now.
BIG surprise there, eh?
This is hard to part with but I could really use the money.
Anybody actually believe that? Looks like everything he finds at work goes to ebay!
And yes, I would like some cheese with my whine.
Franky
SSizler 12-01-2007, 01:20 PM This is NOT what I expected from GreenLight....... :drunk:
Sure mistakes happen, but there are now 4 "Finders of the Case"???
Man, if there wasn't 2 inches of ice on the road this morning, I would have hit my KMarts again today!

3rdCoastDiecast 12-01-2007, 01:38 PM Hopefully someone from GL will clear this all up. Those are definitely green machines. If they were a special KMart run and supposed to be green, don't you think GL would have changed the card art to reflect that so they couldn't be passed off as GM's? This is lookin pretty weird that multiple cases are showing up full of unnumbered GM's
Franklin2700 12-01-2007, 02:50 PM Phazer22 - are your cars un-numbered as well? Did you find them hanging, or still in the sealed inner?
Phazer22 12-01-2007, 05:56 PM All the cars are un-numbered. I found them in the sealed inner.
Franklin2700 12-01-2007, 07:29 PM Man, I don't know how ANYONE gets anything from K-Mart! I stopped at the three closest to me here in Denver today and got the same thing at every store: "everything we have is out!" I thought they had given up on telling people that...
Nice find Phazer man - AMAZING!
Phazer22 12-01-2007, 09:51 PM Thanks everybody for the nice comments. Im still in disbelief.
astroking2 12-02-2007, 02:15 PM Phazer,
Your set is not the one on Ebay then?
This is really strange that several people have found these. If GL does not know what is going on, then who does?
Phazer22 12-02-2007, 04:18 PM No, the case on Ebay is NOT mine. Aaron
astroking2 12-02-2007, 06:59 PM No, the case on Ebay is NOT mine. Aaron
Good to know.
That means that others are finding them and figuring out how much they are worth.
Really strange. Hope GL chimes in very soon.
GeraldE61 12-02-2007, 07:57 PM I'm guessing these slipped by the Company, they were probably supposed to open the masters, and insert one GM per master case, but they messed up. This happened with JL years ago in the great WL caper. Errors happen. Someone lucked out, good for them, to bad they'll profit on them and not share.
I know for a fact that distribution center workers pack boxes and stock pallets the way they want them then send them to the store nearest them. It happened a lot around here between 1995 and 1997. The workers at the Seymore Indiana Walmart distribution center would unpack/pack cases and pallets the way they wanted them then be at the store when they were pulled to the floor. That went on for a couple years but then they were barred from the Clarksville store.
I met a guy in 1995 that worked for Kmart in a high up position. He came to the Hot Wheels convention with literally cases of the Gold Passion Treasure Hunt.

does not explain the NON-numbered pieces, GL seems to read about everything why not this post ?

Maybe because it is a weekend?
moparmarc 12-03-2007, 05:16 AM I would wet my pants with joy for this set!
Cool find, I wish I had them.
Diorama Builder 12-04-2007, 12:45 PM And the prices will sky rocket after UTH said those cases were not to be let go  .
Line them pockets....Merry Christmas from GL.
LIGHTNING44 12-04-2007, 06:30 PM And yet, i still have never found 1 GM. Is that to much to ask for? All i want is to find one, and theres people finding full cases. thats murphys law for you

I agree. I never found ay chase cars b4.
Bob327ci 12-04-2007, 09:07 PM I also found a case like this. It is REAL. All 12 series 4 Mopars with no seriel numbers. I called Greenlight toys and they told me this is NOT a promotion. It was a mistake at the factory. I am NOT going on EPAY with my set. a freind of mine is a Mopar freek he is going to get a nice Christmas present.

CTWLSMIKE 12-05-2007, 01:49 AM Here is the official word from Greenlight on these:
Over the past few days many of you have been inquiring about the full cases of Green Machines that a few collectors have found at various K-Mart locations. I wanted to look into the situation and get all the facts straight prior to giving you an answer. These cars were manufactured for our licensing partners and personal product documentation. We require 12 samples of each item we manufacture to be on hand for our licensor's (Ford, GM, Chrysler, etc.) at any given time, and in addition to that, we require additional samples for our own records as well. These cars were never intended to enter the marketplace, and it is only a result of an internal error that they were ever released to the public.
Posted in their "Underthehoodclub" forum.
dizzys440 12-05-2007, 02:02 AM I like the comment from Green light to the guy who found the case about great for a collector  to find them and then he puts them on ebay.

wannafbody 12-05-2007, 12:36 PM GEEZ, no wonder why I'm finding just hung greenlights and not a single green machine. Anyone willing to trade one of those green machines for a Shelby Collectibles 66 GTH Chase Car now that greenmachines are flooding the market? If they are 12 per case they can't be chase cars right?
terry9911 12-05-2007, 05:37 PM That green paint just doesnt go well with the blue wheels but I will watch this auction till its ends. He might get more for them individually IMO.
sbchevy 12-06-2007, 05:21 PM Hello, I am the one who has the cars listed on eBay. Im sorry I was lucky enough to find them and decide to sell them instead of giving them away. Shame on me and I will probably end up going to hell. Anyone want to sell me a 95 Camaro hunt for a dollar? How about a Rewards Camaro that was randomly given away free to RLC members with the purchase of the featured $15 online car? Thats what I thought. I missed out on both of those so maybe I should cry about it. I collect cars for myself, I have a redline motown camaro that I found at the grocery store and was offered $100 for it. Its still in my collection and hope I never have to sell it. Its really not about making a profit to me some things I would rather sell than keep. Who would of left this case of cars for someone else to buy? I knew they were HTF and had every right to buy them so I did. So anyone who wants to bitch at somebody for making a dollar on eBay needs to talk to everyone selling a Nintendo Wii and posting a picture sitting with a dozen of them. Get a life to half the people who collect diecast cheers to the other half.
96gsfan 12-06-2007, 06:12 PM Wow. 1st post on HT just to come on and do that.
I dont think anyone has any ill feelings toward you personally. There is always a bit of a jealousy factor when somebody finds something special. Just a little of that coming out is all. No-one means any harm but you sure wont make any friends this way.
Good luck on your auction.
sbchevy 12-06-2007, 06:27 PM I had never heard of hobby talk but some guy eMailed me and said Oh I was on hobby talk.com and your not the only person to of found these cars and there are lots of these cases and I think you should let your buyers know that. Of course all I read is a bunch of bashing for me selling a case of cars Im tired of the jealousy, haters and losers. Im sure there are alot of great people on here but you know if my post was directed towards you or not. Peace.
TheDarkCutlass 12-06-2007, 06:33 PM its just the fact that it appears your just scooped them up witht he sole intention of making a profit.
Now if you found these, and offered them up for trades to further your collection, different story.
Its just far to often we see in this hobby people crashing down doors at various stores, snatching all the ''vvvhtf'' cars, then go home and list them on the bay to see what kind of money they can turn.

Don't worry about what others say about selling the case - you found them and can do whatever you want with the cars. There is no need to explain yourself - if people can't deal with it, they are either jealous or have too much time on their hands.
i agree. these are adult collectable cars. you found them and can do as you please. it's not like your robbing a 5 year old of a precious toy. people buying these are old enough to know what they are doing. and many like myself, don't trade. these will most likely never be opened by any buyer anyway.
am i jealous no. i think it's great you found them. (would still like an explanation from greenlight how it happened).... do i envy you, yes.......why couldn't we both found a case...........
do whats best for you.

Exactly correct.
sbchevy 12-06-2007, 07:55 PM Believe it or not I had posted my find on RLC forum on the latest find page. Nobody offered to trade anything for them. They either wanted to buy them or tell me that it was a fake. I am just about done with trading as far as that goes. I never find anything worthy enough to mess with it. I found out it is much easier to sell and take that money and buy what your looking for. A small part of this auction will go towards a couple cars I have needed for awhile. Thanks to those who have understood my situation.
Franklin2700 12-06-2007, 08:30 PM sbchevy,
I guess I should respond, as I am one of the jealous hater / losers who expressed my disappointment about your listing. I won't deny that at the time, there was definitely some jealousy in me when you jumped to sell your case, especially after you took them time to tell folks about it on HWC, but not anywhere on a Greenlight message board. That easily made you identifiable as a non-collector (of GL toys, anyway). Thats why TheDarkCutlass has hit this right on the head: you clearly were out to make a buck, and most folks here on this board are all about collecting - and helping out others complete their sets when they can. Additionally, you have listed 13 different K-Mart gift cards in your recent auctions, which would lead me to be suspicious that your connection to K-Mart is something more than that of a casual customer. (Should I be wrong about this, I apologize in advance.)
Why someone would chose to write you through ebay to hate on you is a mystery to me. It certainly seems cowardly, and definitely not the norm for these boards. Your choice, however, to defend yourself by calling people losers who need to get a life is equally as childish. You have chosen to scalp a set you knew little about, and you will profit a great deal from it. If you were not prepared to take a little criticism for that, then maybe you should stay away from collectibles and the losers that buy them.
Franky
Oh, and yea, I managed to overcome my jealous rage when I came across these:

nascar4al 12-06-2007, 08:47 PM Wow, I am really wondering how many of those cases are out there. Really dumb on GL's part for letting this happen. Congrats to the guys that have found them. Am I jealous, you bet. You guys do what you want with these cars. You found them and they are yours. You OWE no one anything. You don't have enough to share with everybody. if I had found them I would not give them away either. I would keep them as I do most chase cars, but you are not obligated to do anything with them. Did I mention I am jealous I didn't find a case of them? To me this really messes up the GMs. They are not numbered so they are not really part of the series. A very big goof on GL's part. I hope they learned something from this.
that's what bothers me.
i don't care personally that anyone has found these. nor do i care what they decide to do with them. to me, it's like winning the lottery, and we on here try to imagine what it's like. i can't be "jealous", but i can "envy". to me a huge difference.
the real problem now is greenlights reputation. it's definitely taken a hit, and if these cases continue to show up, it will get worse. all but the green machines, are mostly peg warmers around here, and i've seen greenlights liquidated for as little as $1.98, and kay-bee has them now at $2.98.
ollies discount store has a ton of the first greenlights put out, as far as the new york set, and indy racing cars. and i mean hundreds of cars, which have now been there over a year on the pegs.
i can't help but wonder, will greenlight now join johnny lightnings, hot wheels mainlines, winners circle, matchbox, harley davidson, foose, daniels, low riders and several more diecast brands, which are all now in discount stores like ollies, big lots, dollar tree, dollar general and family dollar to name a few.
if i found them would i buy them? you bet. but i'd sell them fast, and keep the receipt locked up. i've gotten stuck with too much "hot" diecast over the years that means nothing to me now. and i[ve had to pay to get rid of, literally, i pay the garbage man to haul it away, or pay for gas to take it to a goodwill shop.
sbchevy 12-06-2007, 10:38 PM Franklin2700 there you go. The Kmart coupons were stacked up at the checkouts for free. As far as being a collector of of this brand you are very wrong. I have collected Greenlight since MCG series 1. I have found 2 GM's before these (impala and GTO) I have been on Greenlighttoys.com several times and still dont know of a discussion forum like this one or RLC. I wanted to join the Club but couldnt spare the $$$ now maybe I will be able to join and renew my RLC membership after the auction. I know these are worth more than Im willing to keep them for. I knew that real quick when within the first night of posting my find it had over 600 views and was at the top of the list. I knew then that I should sell them rather than keep em. I will never find anything like it again so you can get your panties out of a wad.
69camaro 12-06-2007, 11:44 PM Your sure to have a lot on controversy on this thread. I have no problems of what you do with what you find. It would be nice to have this set. But is the only difference from the regular Green Machines the missing serial numbers on the bottoms?
sbchevy 12-07-2007, 12:16 AM Yep No serial #'s, thats the big difference. The whole case was GM's.
CTWLSMIKE 12-07-2007, 12:36 AM But is the only difference from the regular Green Machines the missing serial numbers on the bottoms?
Yes there are no other differences. :D

Firebirds 12-07-2007, 01:10 AM ebay seller-in the new comments it says greenlight emailed you?
and said only 3 cases got out?
theres been 4 pic'd sets and 7 total reported.unless the second on ebay is one already known?
hey, just think about all those other cases of GMs from other series......
maybe GL will slip up again and let a case of MCG 1 out. ..they have more then enough extras lol.
kwik,i hear ya and know all too well.
i dont think that the fact that some of their samples made it out will make too much or any impact on them tho.i'll still collect GMs.
inevitability time will tell.
who's gonna find the next willy wonka ticket?
