I was thinking and thinking of ways to make oval racing cheap for the new commers and this is what I came up with.
Scale the Bolink Legend down to 1/18 scale range and add some much needed improvements like ball bearings from the start, 370 motor pod with 6cell 2/3A battery tray. Toss in the new Novak Mongoose with the SPEC Class motor and racers should have an very competive car for about $300 including the radio, electronics and a few battery packs. I can see a Spec 1/18 chassis being sold for less than $125 for carbon fiber chassis and about $80 for the glass chassis.

BRP is by far the best buy and the most fun for oval. Those cars are almost indestructable. BRP has a link on the right of this board>>>>>

We still race the old legends at my track spec class of course, and i think it's the cheapest class we run! 18th scale legends would be too cool!!!!!

you know i think it would be cool if they made legends style bodies for the sliders and run them stock now that would be cool.

we have a great class of 1/18 latemodels running down in ashville ohio its a open class but we r running associated 18t with street meat tires and a 13$ 370 motor. with the stock esc. Now there is other cars like the losi with a late model body 2 brushless cars ect. The funny thing is the associated car i am running along with 3 others are just as fast or faster than the rest of the cars. I did put a brushless to it on carpet and had to replace the front diff but other than that turn buckles and 1400 2/3a batteries (un matched) its stock. we bought the rtr for 170 and ran it till we were able to mount the latemodel body and that was the tuffest challenge but not imposible to do. We dont have much over 200 in the car and they are fast and unbelivably durrable.

Just get a legend and strictly enforce the out of the box rules...easy enough...if people want to move on...offer a mod class.
this class was awesome except for having to police for the inevitable cheaters
Great, fun, inexpensive class
