Hi everyone,

I was looking at Car Model from July 1968 the HO Racing Column by Jack Ayers. The column talks about the new Aurora Formula 1 Racing Set # 1321. Page 57 goes with his column on page 56. It shows a picture of a slim-line I have never seen. The caption states "Here's the Ferrari Formula 1 from the new Aurora set. For now if you want one you will have to buy the whole set and you will have to wait fro September to do that." Does this car exist? What was the other car in the set?

Also I recieved this info from Buster

"Roger, Checking Howard Johansen's book Vol #4 he lists #6821 Lola Ford Formula 1 '69-'69, #6822 Ferrrari Formula 1, #6823 '68-'69, Cooper-Maserati Formula 1 '68-'69, #6824 Lotus Ford '68-'69, #6825 Honda Formula 1 '68-'69, #6826 BRM Formula 1, ......All of these are listed for 1968 & 1969. No colors are listed for any of these cars.
Greenberg's Guide to Aurora Slot Cars skips these numbers (goes from #6820 Mangust to #6827 XKE Jaguar and doesn't last these at all..
That's it so far.............will still do more looking.
John Warren"

So was this or any of these other cars ever made??

Or is it just a diecast like Robert says here

"The body in the picture came on a small dicast car of that era. I used to have a few on my old layout.

it's hard to tell by the pic, but I think I can see the gear clamp through the cockpit. That would suggest to me that the car in the pic is a diecast... why would they make a body with an exposed chassis like that when they've never done that before? If Aurora made it, it would have had a driver in the cockpit.

Am I crazy?

In any case, I haven't even heard of such a car.
Could it be the writer of that caption had his info wrong?

Think of that... a diecast being powered by a slimline chassis.
Paint drying would be faster. I bet the car in that pic still hasn't lapped the track yet

A company in the 60's was making die cast F-1 cars, that is one of the bodies. I can't recall the name of the company. I had several as decoration on my layout. Unfortunately, a flood in 1972 wiped out my layout and lots of my stuff. I still have L & J track that has traces of "mud" on the underside.

I think the cars were made by a company in Italy named "Penny". I saw a few on EBAY this morning. Here is a link to EBAY listings:

Hopefully it works. If not, just do a search for Penny die cast or Penny F1
