This is a Sportwerks 19T Mod motor. Iam looking to rebuild it and make it faster, more RPM, and more torque. I iam reading the Big Book online version on here, but its more faced to a STOCK motor. And not much info that i can pickup on a mod motor. Iam looking for a good version of the Big Book more faced to a Mod motor. And do you guys think a dyno would be a good buy??? Iam planning a starting a side business rebuilding, tuning motors. And what is the "best bang of the buck" Comm lathe to get??? I want to upgrade soon!!!
THANKS

Not Bashing here, but if you are asking these types of questions maybe you should hold off on a rebuilding service. Any general motor tips will apply to stock and mod motors. Any of the lathes are about the same, when using a good bit. Integy, fantom, Cobra, etc all make good lathes in differents price ranges. I have heard horror stories from people about each one of them, but in general there all about the same. Just stay away from the bearing guides, stay with V-blocks. Normally with a gain in RPM or going to loose Torque.

Ya, the rebuilding service. That prolly wont happen in another year after i do more motors. The Big Book thread on here has taught me alot of things. And when choosing parts for my motor, what is a good set of brushes??? I heard stuff about Trinitys brushs, and Puntam Propulsion, but i want to know from the racers! And if there are anymore threads or articles on Mod motor building, plz let me know. And one thing, ive been thinking, since my motor is a 19T. Could i put a 7T or 8T armature (sorry for spelling) in my existing can???

If you get an arm wound on a armature based for the 19t can yes you can... For instance When the C2 motor came out I had gotten my hands on a 19T early on... I had 4 arms wound for it..6t thin 6t thick 7thin and 7 thick..
Ypu can see advantages by mixing arms and can making a hybrid motor**however those are deemed illegal at most/all tracks..but can make for some fun backyard bashing... As far as lathes go... everyone will have an opinion.. I had a cobra pro lathe with a carter synthetic diamond...It did a good job but it was kind of a PITFA because you had to shim up the arm in the unit to keep it from bouncing around***I crashed a bit when I was a newb when the slop allowed the arm to jump out of the block.. I ended up investing in a Fantom lathe.. The Fantom lathe cost quite quite a bit more but was worth it.. the cut was much nicer out of the box, and it did not require shimming of the arm or the blocks...since the fantom is a 1 piece forging there are no alignment issues...***My cobra lathe was not 100% out of the box...I took it to work and reworked the cobra blocks... But I could have bought 4 of the cobra lathes for the cost of the fantom..
If you decide you want a High $$ Lathe Hit me up... I dont race brushed and have the fantom one sitting there doing nothing.. Ill sell it for a fraction of what it costs new..
