This Thread is for those of you looking for something a little different from the norm. Everyone track has it's normal classes of pan cars with all the motor options making up a mound of classes. Well if your wanting something different this is the place. We, Pete Russell's Hobby shop (russellrc.com), have been racing 1/10th scale sprint cars on carpet since the mid 90's. The class has gone up & down over the years but has kept a good core of guy's. Now with the mini slider doing the sprint car world some good we have seen a demand for the bigger faster 1/10th scale version. My goal is to provide any information on the sprint cars that we run, along with helping this class grow. The cars we run are made by Team Cobra & we stock any thing & everything for them. So if you are interested in these please ask any questions that you'd like & check out russellrc.com for product info & you can also click on the race info page & scroll to the bottom for some good pictures of the cars!

Anyone that has not seen the guys at Pete's race the sprint cars you are in for a treat! You actually feel the wind form these cars as they fly around the track! Plus, nothing beats open wheeled action (or destruction depending on how DOUG is doing)!

Hey Travis!

As soon as I feel comfortable with my driving (I did go 71 with the 5800 Fri night - my PR - ;) ) I will be breaking out the old sprint car and getting in your way again!

It was awesome seeing the 4300 sprints run this past weekend at Pete's. I'm going to have to invest in a 4300 system for the Sprinter to come up and race with you guys!

Is the Team Cobra cars the only ones allowed in sprint class? Was thinking about coming over on the 19th of Jan for the outlaw nats but I only have a CW Enforcer.

Thanks and looks like a fun class to run...

No you can race custom works or other sprinters if you like. We like to keep all the cars as close to stock as possible. If your thinking of coming on the 19th it would pry be wise to come before then and get some practice. we are racing the Sunday before our big Nats. That would be a good time to come up if you can't make any Friday's. Thanks for the inquiry.

Hey trussell, I've received a couple of emails regarding tire selection for your track and don't have a clue as to what to suggest. Are you running anything like 3 pinks and a purple right front? Any tire compound information and general setup info would be appreciated for the sprint car classes.
Thanks,
Bruce

Tire compound is pretty basic. 90% of us are runing pink rears and purple/orange fronts. If you run a regular purple car tends to barrel roll. Set up on a cobra is all over depending who you talk to. I would start with 40 weight oil and silver rear springs. Front springs i would use a green left and a blue right. that shoul;d get you close. Let me know if I can help you more.

You missed out on the best 3 way battle for the win in 4300 sprints Friday night. Nose to tail side by side with several passes for the lead for 70 laps. It all came down to the last lap but Nick held on to win when Nick,Travis and Ken were 3 wide exiting turn 4. Travis was .10 sec back and Ken .15 sec back.

what are the rules for the sliders?? Have you had a decent turnout with them?? We are running pretty much stock with threaded shock bodies and ball diffs. 1400 mah batteries.

KenBajdek
01-30-2008, 02:43 AM
Everything stock. No upgrades allowed. The car is raced how it came out of the box. The only thing we have allowed is painting the bodies and shock oil that's it. It would be nice to upgrade the diff though it is very fragile.

We average around 10 each week some weeks 15.

will BSR caps fit on the 1/10th sprint cars?

I asked John about making them for the CW dirt cars.If there was enough interest who knows.I was going to run a direct drive sprinter with no wings Silver Crown style around the velodrome with 6 cells and mod motor.
