View Full Version : Kalamazoo Pictures November 2007
VWowner 11-26-2007, 09:48 AM Here are my pictures taken at the Kalamazoo toy show. As always, this is a great show. The Toledo Ohio show shrank while this one grew over the years. Dealers come from several surrounding states and have a wonderful selection of everything. I heard several buyers and vendors make reference to internet sales or how someone could get more or less on the Internet blah blah blah...I think the show format makes a better format on seeing what you are buying and the ability to haggle the price with the seller. You could walk up to any booth, inspect something and most dealers would make the statement "Make me an offer", especially on the moderate priced toys. The internet has educated most toy collectors and made people more savy, but we ran into one collector who had been collecting for many years who just wanted out and sold off his toys for reasonable offers. Chris and I both walked away from that booth with some nice items and the seller was happy. A win win.

41-willys 11-30-2007, 10:20 PM Keep us informed when the next one will be. We sure hated to miss getting together with you guys.
bandit 11-30-2007, 10:46 PM Actually, I was very surprised at the "small" size of this show. I regularly attended both the spring and fall shows from 1997-2004. Hadn't been able to go to the fall show again until this year. This November show is the smallest I remember. "Only" 3 rooms (normally 5) and nothing outside...Maybe this coming spring will bring back the larger version??
That said, it was a nice time, with lots of interesting toys..
Great pics!!Thanks for sharing..
Steve
41-willys 12-01-2007, 09:06 AM The way I look at it, it's not the size of the show but the fun you have while you and friends are there.

Thats exactly it!!! Getting a chance to see everyone was my main motivation for going up. Unfortunately, I cant make it to the spring show next year.
VWowner 12-02-2007, 10:06 AM The Toledo show is smaller than Kalamazoo. We had the pleasure of seeing it shrink every year. The Kalamazoo show is a nice venue within driving distance. It's still great to spend four hours walking through a mecca of toys and talking to dealers and collectors alike.
Steve, we will be up in the Spring. Make plans to join us and to have lunch afterwards. If Chris (lpgeoteacher) comes, we'll make him buy lunch with his leftover toy money... "Ice water for everyone" .
Eyecandy we will miss ya......

Well, ya know I don't drink much in the way of ice water....However, there are 2 good brewery's within 5 minutes of the show, just northwest on business 94 a tad..Both in downtown Kzoo.
Bells (the "Eclectic cafe")
Olde Peninsula Brewpub
There's actually a third (the Kraftbrau) right across the street from Bells, but they don't open till 4 and the food isn't much to talk about..Really more of a bar..
Bells has the widest selection of brews on tap, but OP has a much better selection of food.
From an out and out wild show perspective, the Chicago show at Kane County fairgrounds used to be outrageous...
http://www.chicagotoyshow.com/
Simply amazing how many vendors turned up..At least 5 to 6 times the size of Kzoo even in the heyday of the Kzoo show..Haven't been there (Kane) for about 4 years...Any recent reports??
I'll be lurking around (hibernating?) until spring time..Lets see what happens as May approaches...
See ya,
Steve
Lummox 12-06-2007, 11:45 PM Amazing stuff there!
Maybe you know this but you plastic Norwegan car is a Peugot. Like the one....
