I just purchased a complete rtr setup and it has a spektrum module and receiver already and I'd like to know if I can use digital servos with this?
Also of the 2 which is more reliable the Spektrum or futabas Fasst system? and can i use digitals with the Fasst system?

yes you can use digital servos with both systems without a problem, and they are practically the same system with different names, no problems with either one they are golden!!

I can speak about the FASST system.
For me, I waited for Futaba to come out with this system.
Yes you can use digitals servos with the FASST, in HRS it is a must, if I am not mistaken. Also if you are going to run digitals, in HRS mode, I think you must have 6.0v for the servos. At least this was true whem running the HRS receivers.
As far as reliability, I would guess both are equal. There were some "lag" issues when the first Spektrum systems came out, those are taken care of now I do believe.

i have had both systems and have always used digital servos. You can use digital servos on both because the system is 2.4 that means you should use them. I like the fasst system because it has a little better responce and feels a like better if i were you i would use the fasst. But to me the spektrum works good and as does the Fasst. I personaly just like the regular manual systhesized system.

Thanks everyone I've always used the PCM receivers and unless the Spektrum system has a shut down mode if the radio gets a glitch like the PCM does I'll continue using this in my RC boats.
I've never used any of the newer systems so it'll be a bit of learning curve for me.

James,
The Spektrum systems do have a failsafe setting...if I remember correctly, when you go to BIND your receiver to the radio...you set your controls where you want them to default.
ie: HOLD THE STEERING WHEEL to the LEFT if you want the car/boat to TURN, or leave it straight if you want it to go straight.
Same with the Throttle, if you want it to BREAK ... opps BRAKE not Break...LOL- you hold the throttle to full brake as you push the bind button.

Tanks for the info,
I'll check it out and play around with it. Think I'll find something a bit less expensive to test them on to be safe than one of my race boats.
