went through carb, Its all clean, motor still wants to haunt. Checked governor shaft and it is set right, motor seems like it wants to take off, top rpm set at 3200 but throttle responce seems odd and it keeps haunting slowly sometimes and faster others depending on throttle setting. This engine is on a troybuilt rototiller.

OOOOOOOooooooooooooooo BOO!

Maybe you can scare it back into line. :p

Hauntings usually occur after it dies, not while it's running.

It could be that the governor needs to be adjusted..

I always use to think that when the engine hunted, or haunted-- only during Halloween, it was caused by the governor being out of adjustment. 30yearTech is probably right, but with my limited amount of experience working on small engines, it usually turned out to be some small amount of dirt in one of the carb orifices. If adjusting the governor doesn't work, I would tear apart the carb again.

Assuming the throttle/governor linkage is pristine, i.e., static set correctly, springs not stretched, and linkages in right holes, plus, carb is clean, particularly orifices in nut holding carb bowl on, might check the gasket between carb and engine to make sure it is not leaking air.
jus an idea,
thanks,

Does it spit fuel out the carb when it hunts?
