so i'm just waiting on a manual to come in before i start ripping the 12hp b&s engine apart and in the meantime trying to find a source for parts. it doesn't have to be rock solid, but i'd like this to last for quite a few years. given that, wheres a good place to look for parts? i've seen some rebuild kits on ebay for excellent prices, anyone know how the quality is for them? these kits had valves, new pison, piston rings, connecting rod, wrist pin, valve springs, etc. and all gaskets and would cost me a little over $100 by the time i got shipping on.
if i can save a few dollars without compromising the quality of my rebuild i'd like to, anyone have any suggestions? thanks!!

Most likely the parts you will find on ebay are aftermarket parts and not OEM. These parts are probably just fine, I use a lot of aftermarket and have had great results with them.
You can look up all the part number you may need at the Briggs and Stratton website. Once you have the part numbers, you can go shopping at numerous online parts stores and check the pricing. Compare this to what it will cost you on ebay and then you can decide where to purchase.
Keep in mind that if you have any issues with the parts you purchase, it may be easier dealing with a dealer or an online source then someone off of ebay.
Best of Luck....
