Hello, I have been racing off road rc cars for 15+ years, on and off but it had been a few years and I got back into it with my son but this time on road oval stock. It has been WAY harder than I thought it would be but were having a great time together. I have a ton of set up questions but I have researched on this site and found alot of advise. Starting the beggining of the year our club is going to make the stock class run truck bodies for the stock class which I am excited about but without that big wing in the back I bet its going to be even more challenging! To add to it our track is temporary so I have to drive 3 hours to the next track just to practice until the series starts in Jan. To make a long story short I have two 10L4's that arent set up to well to begin with but what can I do to prepare the cars for the new truck bodies? Its a 315' flat black top oval that they spray with soda for traction. Any advise would be greatly appreciated!

72BCR,
shoot me an e-mail @ tmrchassis@msn.com and I will help you out any way I can. Or make the trip to RCSM and I will help you rebuild your cars so they are setup well.

Thanks for the quick helpful responses! As far as the location I live in flagstaff and we have been racing the local parking lot races here but they are starting the points series in cottonwood (between flag and phx) which is also a blacktop parking lot. I have a box of trophy's and plaques in the garage from off road rc over the last 15 years but the dirt is so less sensitive to setup. I could go out there with a bent steering link and win a race and this stuff if I'm a half a degree off on camber I get lapped!! I am amazed how much I have to learn just to get the cars right to be able to drive them how I think I can if they worked better! I know this isnt the right forum for touring cars but I am running one of those too and with those having 500 different adjustments it seems even harder. I guess what I need to do is get a truck body and just go down to one of the phx tracks and practice. The only thing I hear is the phx tracks are banked so as far as set up goes I dont know how much it will help but I definately need seat time. Basically what I am getting from everyone is that you need as much weight and down force in the rear as you can get and basically some push in the front since it seems like they turn more than they need to which brings the back end around faster than you can counter steer.

I wouldnt worry about the loss of the wing.. The trucki bodies have a large spoiler.. With brushless racing the 13.5 class, and 17.5 are faster then 4 cell stock, and we do not run wings.. they also have a truck class i belive for the 13.5 motors.. You just have to adjust the setup for the loss of the wing.. i have found the car actually seems faster on high bite without a wing.. It free's the car up alot..
