could it be true??? according to the source, they have this set coming from someone in japan and they will have in it hand within the next week. they have also stated that it is not a custom set and it will be released in the USA at a future date. i just discovered this from another board. it appears it is going to be called the "Motor Speedway of the South" set. the single set is supposed to contain all cars shown in pic plus a few missing ones. i hope the release of these cars holds to be true as i would love to get my hands on them! :woohoo: :thumbsup:

i think it would be cool to have. i believe they are going to do all 43 cars in this set. only 10 in the pic have ever been released and 3 of them are in the dinoco 400 box set which is something i don't have. although most of them only played a small part in the movie, i think it would be cool to have the whole grid of cars. i find some of the names very funny and would love to have the cars close up to read the other advertisements they have printed on them.

also, if you think about it, there are only about 15 cars that ever had any significant part in the movie. look how many they produced already and still have no problem selling them minus a select few that have been released many times over.

i am honestly not sure. the thread i read contained two different sets, one of which was of around 23 cars that have already been released but they come in an exclusive box set and is only available on HWC for RLC members only. i do know the 23 car set is one for sure but it could be both sets for all i know. :confused:

Seems a little far fetched. I think it'd be neat to have the set, but I kinda doubt anyone would actually buy one. Maybe a Christmas present for a kid that really, really loved the movie or the most die-hard collector, but I don't see many others buying this one.

and i recently read that the idea was to release them all in a big set, approx retail somewhere around $200....however, with the "mass marketing" idea came the notion that they could not sell as many unless they sold them in the smaller exclusive sets similar to the dinoco 400 currently being offered at target, hint hint....more people would be willing to pay $20-30 at a time than the much bigger number of $200....it's the fast nickel vs slow dime theory of economics....

There will be two sets available. One is a 2006 set that has an exclusive 'Bowling Mater'. That version came with a game and has not been on the card.

The other set is the "Motor Speedway of the South". It is believe that the cars shown above are this set.

i know there will be two sets available but the question rick was asking was if the set shown above will only be available on HWC for RLC members only? the set you are referring to will also contain the dirt track mcqueen that came in the mountain challenge set as an exclusive as well even though it appeared on a single card later on.

Both sets are 'slated to be HWC exclusives' according to HWCBrianF.
