I know its off subject alittle but, but I came across this this evening while reading my Aviation Legislation book, "Aviation and the Role of Govenment" for my BS at Embry Riddle...............

As I read about all the flight that took place before Orville and Wilbur ever even though of riding in anything other than a hrose drawn carriage, I continue my reading to the area of time we now know as FIRST FLIGHT.....

At that point Orville and Wilbur were reading writings from all the other before and during that came up with the idea taht can be used today in R/C.......

"Based on sound logic that until the problem of CONTROL OF A VEHICLE could be solved, the question of POWER WOULD NOT BE RELEVANT"

They knew the importance of CHASSIS way back then, and they had no clue what it would involve today, LOL

I found the above statement to be true today in the R/C world.......

I need more power, Scotty beam me up.................. Just a small history lesson as I learn..............

dc i proved this to my self last night i did something a little different i left everything at home i consider to be a crutch like big ohp power and all the extra equipment ,all i took to the track was another new hangman a radio some tools and some batterys that have set since winter last year that i considered to be junk i wouldnt even practice with these batterys ,i just consentrated on the chassis and my driving ,the car was only a tenth slower up front with junk batts ,i was still able to tq 13.5 ,it just showed me that all the voltage in the world isnt going to help you if your chassis isnt working right! chad

Riddle is an awsome school, I was accepted there in 2003, but decided not to go when I found out my wife (then girlfriend) was pregnant. Now I'm doing the online study thing with RIT.

Back to the discussion, I totally agree. People put way to much emphasis on motors and batteries, when their attention should be going to chassis. Understanding how to make things work properly is much more important than trying to motor past someone in the straights.

all books aside

"you can win it in the first turn"

then if you make it into turn 2,3 and 4

I agree It's about chassis and some luck

In my case yesterday
Luck wasn't on my side
but
the imported thing is

I DID WIN THE 1ST TURN......BUT I DIDN'T WHEN THE RACE .......

Ive found the same thing in 13.5 or slower.. I can and do run old sticks in those classes and can still be competitive... My practice packs that I run in 13.5 on a weekly basis run the same up front**With a little gearing change** and just fall off a little quicker at the end of the run.. But the difference between a killer pack and my practice stuff is not as much as people think.. My 13.5 record at cincy and Colombus were both set on last years batteries.. In 4300 I notice the newer sticks netting better results though... But again just seems to show during the last 30 seconds of the run..

I havent had to do it this year but Last year I ran at a track where guys were complaing it was a battery thing.. Usually if someone is really whining about it Ill trade them packs for a round..Usually that silences the battery issue..

Pretty simple formula though..

Bad chassis + High voltage = Hot motor/slower car.
