The BRL BSR Brushless Oval Tour moves west to the Hawkeye state for one of the most highly anticipated events of the year, the Lefthandercr.com 300.

The Vinton Skate Center, about 25 minutes Northwest of Cedar Rapids, is the winter home of the IROAR Racing Club and is well known for hosting some of the most fun and competitive events in the oval world. Last season the club delivered the largest turnout in BRL history with 104 entries, all indications are this years race will be even larger.

The track features a run line in the 165' range with wide sweeping corners. Pit is large and tables and chairs provided but is recommended that you bring a power cord. Food and drinks are available on site or with-in a few minutes drive.

In addition to the tours regular class line-up the Open Modified Division will be in action for the first time this season. As a special bonus this non point division will be competing for a cash purse of $200. (1st ) $75, (2nd) $50, (3rd) $35, (4th) $25, (5th) $15

Cody Erdmann #52 Truck class
It will be great to have Cody racing with us but I’m thinking he might be a little under the age limit for the Masters Truck Class. Minimum age requirement 40.

With all due respect, I thank that the honor of "Ranking Senior" in BRL Masters Truck has probably got to go to Butch Bebe. He was at the Ohio race but had to miss the Detroit race because of a previously scheduled non-RC event. I am not certain of Butch's actual age, but I know that he is over 60; and he has a full crop of white hair besides. To know Butch is to love him. He is very young at heart, and he is a real "Racin Crazy". I am pretty sure that you will see Butch at future race events. His RC vehicles are always solid black and beautiful. Also, if Keith Racknor keeps having people celebrate HIS birthdays, he just may be catching up. Keith drives that good lookin, fast red BRL truck with the white LE lightning bolts on the hood.

Oldguy, I think that is a classic sign of a MID-LIFE crisis. Luckily he can afford his mid-life crisis. I don't understand how he even qualifies for the truck class.

I'm pretty sure Keith Racknor is in his 80's now.

You'd think at that age, a commensurate level of respect would be commanded. :)

Where's the love?

You can try Cedar Rapids, there are a lot of them on the south side of town. Motel6 is where we stay in the summer when we race at Storm Steel.

Yea the southside of CR has a ton of hotels. there is a Clarion Inn, Fairfield Inn and the motel 6 that Mike mentioned. There is also a Marriott, Holiday Inn Express and I believe it's a Ramada on Hwy.100/Collins Rd in Cedar Rapids as well. All are about 30 minutes away. I've stayed at both the Marriott and the Holiday Express on Collins road and they are really nice hotels. Not sure on the rates for those though. I know they are going to be higher than some of the others.

Just to clear up some confusion on the rule update regarding approved battery cells. The EP4600 available from Trinity, and the E-Power 4500 available form Pro-Match are both approved.

They are actually they same cell just different shrink wrap.

If you were to equate our new class structure the full size racing world this is how I see it.

17.5 Sportsman Stock - Hooters Cup
13.5 Masters- Craftsman Truck Series
13.5 Super Stock - Busch Series
10.5 Pro Mod - Nextel Cup

Haven't you guys heard? 10.5 is the new modified, so I guess that would make 13.5 the new 10.5. Are you staying with me?? If I were to hypothetically run "open" modified at this race there would be a 84.756% chance that I would win(beings it's my home track and all). With those odds I would earn $200 minus $25 entry fee, minus $75 in tires, minus $100 for batteries, minus time spent preping, working on and racing the car $150. Still there? With all that, 9 guys will sign up 4 will drop out because their cars don't work, can't make runtime or their chassis gets snapped in half because someone who shouldn't be running mod in the first place is on the track.

Now if you add all that up using the Monti Calculator you get that I'm not running Modified. If that doesn't add up slam a couple Mountain Dew's, swing through your local car wash and call 1-888-555-184Q

Danny,
Now that is funny.

On a side note not directed at Danny...

The only problem I have with the "fast guys" running 13.5 is that eventually you'll have the same A-main in both 13.5 and 10.5. Nothing is wrong with that in itself and it will be good competition, but looking at the bigger picture eventually the current "fast" 13.5 guys will be in 17.5 and the newer/less skilled racers in both 13.5 & 17.5 get bumped further down the line and its less reason for them to travel to the race.
