I have seen a few of the new 10 packs with the red metallic alfa romeo, the red baja bandit and the gold austin mini van flipped upside down or over on their sides. Any idea how this happens? Do you think they are flipping during transit or is it while they are being packed into the set?

I would say during transit. I have seen a few of those myself.
Theres more room in a 10 pack for cars to move around than alone on a card.
