Hey All, These trucks started as Nascar trucks from Ebay. All with ugly, lame sponsor paint. I was desperate at the time for some transport trucks for the pit area. Tney didn't fit my track style (60s/70s sports car) So i repainted them for a better look. I downloaded the logos from the internet and printed them on Avery sticker media. (don't wet or clear coat it). They'er not historically correct but they work for me. Feedback welcome. mj

I have been wanting to get a set of transporters too. What brand were those. Hotwheels and Winners Circle go out of sight.

I got mine on Ebay really cheap. Six of them for maybe $10.99 or so. But as i said they were butt ugly. (IMHO) The are marked Matchbox 1981 on the bottom. Try some different keyword searches and see what you can find. As you see a little paint can do wonders for them. If i see something i will post it on this thread. mj

Hey Cagee, check out Ebay search "matchbox racing transporters". I found at least five or six for $1.99 to $4.99 just a minute ago. Some are nicer than the ones i bought but same type. Hurry and beat the rest of the guys!! mj

Hey MJ,
I've had my eye on some of these exact transporters for my own use with what I have in mind but I have a question or two.
Regarding the trailers...are they plastic or metal? And do you see any way of removing the container portion of the trailer from the chassis? Are they attached with welds, screws, tabs, or what? Thanks for an answer as I haven't seen any to touch and feel and examine up close.
Those look really nice btw.

Hey LR, The cab is metal with a plastic chassis. The trailer is plastic with a metal chassis. They are attached with metal rivets. You can free them up by drilling through the rivets. I did that to the cabs to paint them..... shold work for the trailer. Most of the cabs popped right into place and stayed there. one needed a little glue. As you might see in the pix the trailer isn't the long transport style but a shorter one. At $1.99 each i couldn't kick. Good luck with your project, mj
