Robertw321 11-08-2007, 06:23 PM Rob,
Whats the care and feeding of these batteries? Can you use them more than once a day?
mr_meat68 11-08-2007, 11:24 PM are anything done to these cells (like matching, zapped, etc...) or do they still have their virginity?
Toxic2 11-09-2007, 08:04 AM Are these batteries NiCad or NiMH?
Raceman 11-10-2007, 07:50 AM At 3000 MAH, these would be logically Ni-MH so you could make the same charge & discharge methods like when using racing packs. You may try 6A charging then either the 30A discharging or let as is.
I think the usual rule for using the same pack all day is to never discharge it, just re-peak it as needed. Pack gets less heat by recharging after recharging than discharging.
Heck! now we can have 1700 & 2000 mah *Ni-Mh* packs so it is a legit question here.
MURDOCKRC 11-10-2007, 11:51 AM CARE & FEEDING: I recomend 5 amp charge, 20 amp discharge. Anything else is at your own risk or doing.
Type of cell: NIMH
Process: Unmatched, non zapped sport cells
Use: No problem with multiple use during the day. I would however allow them to cool between runs. These are 3000mah so that are not "overpacked" cells
I went with these cells because they are durable especially compared to the 1600's for example. They will last much longer so it is worth the change to go this route and still have a cell that will handle Brushless racing if you choose. In addition, this is also the packs I would like to see tracks use with the "Breeze" car upon its release. Plus, I am able to bring you a much better battery and still keep the price low.

Tranny Car Man. 11-16-2007, 08:54 PM Rob,after a couple of cycle's they look pretty good, far cry from the 1600s LOL. Thanx for the good product!!!!. Sandy.
NCFRC 11-24-2007, 09:17 PM Rob ,
Thanks for your support of Spec Racing , its our most popular class.
Too many tracks are too lazy to enforce rules and and have NO battery rules, What a Joke , their just killing the sport if they realize it or not.
Spec racers usually don't travel , so setting your own battery , motor , gear, tire rules to fit your area is perfectly fine.
Forget any of this ROAR crap.
briano_72 11-24-2007, 11:59 PM i got to run mine tonight in our spec brushless nastruck class, the other guys finnaly gave in after seeing 3 rounds of heats and a main where i could run full power for 4 minutes !! so a bulk order is on the way for our hobbyshop rob, you got email !!
mr_meat68 11-25-2007, 12:55 AM i'm curious... did your lap times get any faster or could you hold your normal times longer or both? compared to a trinity pack.
which brushless motors are you using?
briano_72 11-25-2007, 12:59 AM i didnt mess around with gearing alot, but it was close in speed to the 4 other trucks using the trinity packs. thats kinda what i was hopeing for. dont get me wrong, it was faster, but no where near as fast as the 3800's i ran in it 2 weeks ago. its nice to get a little more speed out of it and not have to worry about it going dead with 45-30 seconds left in your race. we run the 10.5's.
mr_meat68 11-25-2007, 06:33 PM thanks man. so they should work pretty good with 17.5 motors then? we'd like to stay the same speed or real close to spec packs/spec motors.
briano_72 11-25-2007, 07:57 PM heck ya, 17.5 would be perfect for em, you could probably get 2 4 minute runs outta em !!
mr_meat68 11-25-2007, 08:38 PM nice!
i guess we'll see what happens. i'm hoping everybody will make the switch.
MURDOCKRC 11-25-2007, 11:56 PM Thank you for your support everyone.:)
Windtunnel is here for every level of racing. Without sport racers or a place for new people to start without breaking the bank and still have quality stuff is a focal point of mine though. Everybody matters to me.......and at every level.

MURDOCKRC 11-27-2007, 11:14 AM Glad to hear they are working out for everyone. I have plenty in stock but starting another large run of them. Looks like there are a bunch of tracks that are going to make the switch:thumbsup:
Rob @ Windtunnel
briano_72 11-29-2007, 06:22 PM we just ordered a batch of em today for steel city hobbies !! for our brushless nastruck class. making the change in 2 weeks, haveing a bon fire out back this weekend for the trinity packs !!
MURDOCKRC 11-29-2007, 06:33 PM I think you will be very happy with the change everyone. Much higher quality cell that will have some longer life to them. I have cells here enough to build around 200 more packs. Circle the wagons tracks this pack is a much better option than we currently have especially for using with brushless motors.
Any track that would like information on these is more than welcome to contact us anytime. 712-428-4679 or rob@windtunnelracingproducts.com

H.D.RACING 12-26-2007, 08:34 PM Preparing for the switch to 17.5 brushless/windtunnel packs for the first of the new year I bought 4 packs this past sunday at our track in N.E. Pa., The Strand. I just finished cycling them. WOW!!!!! I haven't bought anything but 1600 spec packs for the last few years but I think these packs will be great. I have records of matched 3000 packs I bought in 2002. They cycled at 490+ time, 450 dis. ave. The Windtunnel packs cycled at 530+ time, 430 dis ave. For the price, these packs are going to be fun to race with. Can't wait to hit the track this sunday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
MURDOCKRC 12-28-2007, 04:34 PM Windtunnel Sport packs are once again shipping. Get them while you can because these things are HOT!!!!!! items

briano_72 01-02-2008, 11:38 PM it is so nice to run our 10.5 nastruck class now and see all of us come across the finish line at about the same speed as we were when we started. :woohoo: i dont know how some of us keep doing that for the 2 years i have been running the class. we did lose a handfull of guys cause they hated the trinity packs. maybe they will come back !! hats off to ya rob !!
MURDOCKRC 01-03-2008, 09:00 PM I cant thank you enough for your props Brian. I will continue to do my best to make a difference in racing for every level:thumbsup:

Tranny Car Man. 01-03-2008, 10:21 PM Rob,Id like to add to the "ATTABOYs" also. Those 3000 sportpacks are far superior to those Trinity packs, there not even in the same league. Were still running those Trinity's at Turn 4 and im having all kinds of run time and voltage issues.I have changed my charging and discharging modes,on different chargers and still no luck.I run your 3000 and it seems like im out there for an hour and still making laps LOL.Maybe next season we'll be running them. There great. Sandy.
ICEMAN96 01-03-2008, 11:11 PM The Packs Are Awsome It's A Very Durable Battery With Just The Right Power For Spec/sport Racing, beginners.
ICEMAN96 01-03-2008, 11:18 PM Rob The 1 Thing You Might Want To Change Is The Shrink Wrap.mine Is Open Up From Heat[shrinking MORE AND TEARING]maybe A Little Bit Bigger...BUT I DID HEAT THEM UP AND WAS ABUSING THEM WITH CHARGE RATES AND GEARING. SO IT DIDN'T HAPPEN UNDER NORMAL CONDITION..RAN THEM 4 RACES NEVER TOOK THEM OUT OF THE CAR.

Thank you tranny car man. I have talked to Kim about making the switch. Not sure why they would not want to better the racing but hopefully I can talk with Turn 4 some more about it and you as drivers just simply say " We had enough" of the junk.
iceman; not to imply anything but heat is the only thing that would cause excessive shrink. My test packs before release had the snot beat out of them with charge rates and discharge rates and did not have that happen. But, that is not to say that could not happen either. on your next order, yell at me  in the comment box and Ill get you some replacement shrink:thumbsup: How does that sound:)
Rob
ICEMAN96 01-04-2008, 12:29 AM NO COMPLAINTS ROB I LOVE THEM...AS I SAID I WAS ABUSING THEM THEY HELD UP SWEET.I KNOW I GOT THEM VERY HOT
H.D.RACING 01-04-2008, 11:50 AM Last Sunday at the track I ran my 4 minute race then kept going. I was out there over 6 minutes and the lap times stayed level with brushless 17.5. Great packs!!!!!!!
NCFRC 01-11-2008, 03:12 PM Does the sticker stay on and is very hard to get off without noticing
some tampering ?
We have some pretty ingenious racers and black shrink wrap isn't that
uncommon.
NCFRC 01-11-2008, 05:47 PM We're not running Trinity Spec packs but want to upgrade-----
Can someone do me a favor and run a cycle on their Murdock pack ,
5 amps chg with a 15 amp discharge to 4.0 volts
I'd like to know the pack IR and the voltage at 1 , 2 , 3 , and 4 minute
marks please. Maybe the discharge time and mah would be great.
Much appreciated and I won't post any of our numbers since I'm sure the
Murdock packs are very good and our club Spec packs are not available
for the public to buy.
If you don't want to post it , then just send me a PM. Thankyou
Tranny Car Man. 01-11-2008, 07:03 PM NCFRC,you have a P M.,and email in reference to Windtunnel 3000 sport pack.
MURDOCKRC 01-11-2008, 11:13 PM I had a talk with a track owner the other night and heard the best idea I have heard in a long time for sport/spec racing. This track is signing the pack, then re-shrinking the Windtunnel sport battery in clear shrink wrap. If the shrink is gone, WT sticker or signatures of track directors are gone.........IT IS ILLEGAL. Best darn idea I have heard in a long time to keep tampering from happening. More of this needs to take place in my opinion.

Turn4RC 01-12-2008, 01:00 AM Thank you tranny car man. I have talked to Kim about making the switch. Not sure why they would not want to better the racing but hopefully I can talk with Turn 4 some more about it and you as drivers just simply say " We had enough" of the junk.
The Timing of us starting our spec class and Rob coming out with these packs were about a month apart. By the time the 3000's came out we had allready sold a couple dozen trinity packs and we were not about to make a change in battery rule at that point. What would be the point in trying too save money? There's nothing saying that next season somepoint we'll be making the switch, MAYBE. the Trinity packs are working for now.
briano_72 01-12-2008, 01:09 AM do what i did last year and sell your trinity packs at the end of your year. but with robs packs out there, that may be a little harder for you to do than it was for me. and at the time, i didnt even know about his packs, i just figured one way or another i was gonna get new ones for the new year anyway, it just worked out alot better for me !!!!

I agree , this is a great idea !
For this type of pack , the additional heat shrink wouldn't hurt a thing.
Being Pres. of our club , I'm going to propose this for next season.

The additional shrink wrap is there as a bonus for the racers...it is the racers
responsibility soley to maintain the packs label characteristics to remain legal just like with the trinity spec packs...the packs are signed and dated by 2 track officials and then it's in the racers hands...awesome packs Rob appreciate all the support!
marlborochippy 01-14-2008, 06:18 PM Have you seen any differince in the batteries between your batches? Just wondering if unlike the trinitys the batteries in each batch are equal. Would hate for everyone to get these now and then 2 months later your next packs are better. I run a spec class and hope that these packs are staying equal between batches.
Spoiler 01-14-2008, 08:47 PM Lets put it this way...if the next batch is worse then this one...it will not make a difference because of the runtime and voltage of these packs...The Trinity packs were I believe more critical because there was a very small margin that would determine a good pack from a junk pack...Robs Packs thus far I believe have taken the Battery right out of the loop as far as a determining Factor..mind you have to take care of them and stay on top of what ya got but that's with any Battery...anyone else have anything to feel free..I myself believe this is by far the most significant advancement in spec racing thus far especially coupled with brushless!!! Once again Rob your filling a much needed gap and deserve the money..Trinity has dropped the ball more then once and as a result made a window for a better product..You might also want to talk to the Owner of Steel City he has been runnin these longer and would have alot to add Im sure...
briano_72 01-14-2008, 09:00 PM one of our more precise guys told me that he cycled his packs and they were within a few seconds of each other and a few hundredths of a volt. he was impressed, and he was one of my harder guys to convince to switch to the packs. im the guy from steel city that started this by the way. i myself just drain em almost dead from the week before, put wm on the pulsar at 6 amps, and let em fly !!
NCFRC 01-15-2008, 08:23 AM Trinity has dropped the ball more then once and as a result made a window for a better product..You might also want to talk to the Owner of Steel City he has been runnin these longer and would have alot to add Im sure
I know it's not professional to slam a manufacturer on a talk forum , but for a company like this to drop or not support something they started, then shame on them , you can't even buy Spec tires there any more.
I agree , Rob has stepped up and filled a void that has existed for quite a while,,,,,,,,,,and yes , with the 1600 packs you had to buy 6 to get a decent one.
If the battery is less of a factor in the overall package , thats great
Tranny Car Man. 01-15-2008, 06:59 PM NCFRC,you have a pm again.
