We used to try that years ago,but the T-Jets couldn't pull the weight. Do the HP-7 motors get real hot? Or have figured out a way to lighten all that metal? I like the fact you are turning them into Street Stocks.

The HP7s run nice and cool. Biggest thing is to clearance the fenders enough so the tires don't rub.
As for lightening, I really don't do any. Sometimes a body will have a piece of metal that runs down to where the die-cast car chassis would be (to hold the axle in place for instance). If this metal interferes with the pick-up shoes, or axle, etc, I just cut it off and grind the nub flat. Had to do that under the hood of the Matchbox Charger in the other thread about the C.O.T.
Never tried a T-Jet -- didn't even own one when I started doing the HP7s.
I highly recommend this to anyone looking for some fun.

It is easy to see how fun these could be, but man , they sure could turn into little metal missles! *trees in the scenery shudder with every lap* I love them!

We used to put some of the DC bods on the 440s but had to stop when we kept breaking up those retaing walls we had clipped to the track. They'd get up a pretty good head of steam on an eighteen foot straightaway. rr

I like to dremmel out the inside as much as I can with a heavy sandpaper as well.
This makes the bodies thinner and lighter. The JL/AW T-jets chassis have enough pull to make these babies run well.... you just can't run them for more than 30 laps or so at a time. They get HOT!
The Tyco and Marchons chassis don't seem to get too hot though
