I was just curious whether or not people were using motor coolers on brushless motors and the results both positive and negative. We want to know

Thank you ahead of time

I don't use freeze spray, but do use a motor cooler. I figure it certainly can't hurt, but I doubt it really does anything as far as making you faster. I still think it is handy to have because it allows you to run lots of practice packs without having to wait for the motor to cool.

I use a cooler as well. Faster? Probably not really, but I feel better knowing my motor is cool before the start of a race.

This is the reason I use one also, you can hammer the practice packs, by the time you put a new battery in the car the motor will be below ambient temp. As far as a performance advantage I would say there is not a huge difference, not one that is measurable anyhow.

bob t,

I would have to agree with the rest of the guys, At plattsburg the only practice breaks are between rounds and because brushless is the first class you can make a practice run and last minute adjustments and throw the car on the cooler while you change your battery and the motor will be as cool as if you had not practiced, I have tried leaving the cooler on for longer periods of time and have seen no advantages with brushless in 17.5 at plattsburg

Thanks to all, sounds like no one so far has seen any advantage to using a motor cooler unlike brushed where you can definitly see the difference between a motor that has been cooled vs one that was not cooled. Very interesting

Are you talking about the COOLErS like the MuchMore or just the NOVAK HeatSink Coolers?

Yes, actual motor coolers that make the motor frosty before you run

Running 17.5 BL with Lipo today we tried the motor cooler to reduce motor temp coming off the track with no improvement, then tried a motor heat sink and temp dropped by over 20 degrees. Happy with the heat sink
