Probably still working on it. I was just wondering the dates because I need to get my vacation dates turned in next month.

And ROAR wonders why there entries are lacking. Here it is almost december and no races have been announced. People actually have real jobs that they have to put their vacation in early!

We Shoud'nt be so hard on Dawn most of the time you don't find out till the first of the year.

Nothing against Dawn, but maybe if ROAR got the race dates out, more people could plan for them. The longer they take the more racers are going to set dates for other races.

Maybe the races that are generally run in the 1st quarter of the year....should be selected in the previous year.

ie: the '08 Carpet Nat's should have been selected with the '07 races...

The other thing that helps....is for tracks to submit THIER tracks for consideration before the LAST MINUTE.

what tracks are in the bidding for the race??/ ive always belived races should be held in the middle of the USA.. Why?? Because its the same trip mor most people.. Oval races are always held in the midwest or a few southern states.. these areas have the highest concentration of racers.. They also seem to do well for attendance.. All of the East or West coast races always have a low turnout.. Yeah it sucks always having to travel, but no matter how far, the bill usually comes up the same..

When does Roar anounce that tracks can contact them for a bid.. Ive never seen anyone post any info saying they are looking for a location to hold a race..Is this in Rev up??


If it isnt to late I vote that Someone should Contact Trackside in milwaukee to see if they want to be in the bid race.. Its been 6 years since wisconsin had a carpet nats.. The race pulled in well over 100 bodies, and was a blast.. Its prolly the only track in wisconsin that can hold the amount of racers a nats pulls..

Burbs, I will agree on that one with you. We should get Trackside to get in the running for carpet nats. It would be nice not to have to go so far to run a national event for once.

I don't remember for sure, but I believe reading the ROAR website sometime back...bids for Nat's for the next year have to be in before the first of September...that in itself would/could be part of the reason it takes until so late in the year to decide if that's the case. By the time you go through bids for ALL the divisions...and work out locations, scheduling, etc...it can be a lot of work and can be time consuming.

...I looked on the web site and don't see anything referring to a date however...only that the tracks that had submitted a bid would be discussed at the FALL "ExComm" meeting for selection.

Guys, its all on the roar website under nationals guidelines. We put our bid in back in late April. According to the guidelines the deadline for submission is June 31st, this year it was extended until August 31st. Then the commitees look at the bids and pass the recomendations on to the Excom. Then they tell us. That's what we're waiting on now. As far as I know there are only two tracks in the running for the carpet oval nats. Hobbyplex and Minnreg. Either one will be great... :wave:

Just NOW got word from Oval Committee.....

its looking like RC Thunder for Carpet and Carolina RC for Paved......

nothing official yet.. waiting on the rest of Excom approval and I must verify with the host tracks and dates.

There's more involved than just announcing.... we gotta figure out everything (10 nationals and dates) so it all works together.

Again, your patience is wonderful and appreciated... BTW, both tracks are asking for dates later in the year.. so there is plenty of time to plan your travel and even purchase NEW cars... :)

BTW - On Road Carpet event has been announced... HobbyPlex in Omaha, Nebraska with dates of March 12-16, 2008.......

We have FINALLY been able to select and notify the host tracks for the 2008 ROAR Nationals. Dates are being worked on right now.

I have phoned each track to request and verify from their bid the dates they selected and will be able to confirm those in a day or so. Below are the selected host tracks.

ROAR thanks the class committees for their efforts and exceptional advice in their recommendations. All nationals were specifically selected based on recommendations from the hard working class committee's. The evaluation process is very time consuming and diffcult as this year, there were more bids for each event than in past years and so many items had to be considered.

We do apologize for the long wait (13 days longer than typically done and previously announced) and hope it was worth the wait for each of you.

SWTour i can answer that one for ya...YES! Carolina RC Complex was honored to host the 07 Nats, and is looking forward to the 08 Nats. Unfortunately oval racing is struggling in the rc industry as a whole, but since we are in the heart of Nascar country we have always had a few die hards that kept the sport going.
