View Full Version : The Outer Limits - TOS vol. 3 Old_McDonald 11-01-2007, 02:52 PM Volume 3 is finally out. I have 1 and 2 but never saw 3. Anyone remember any of the shows in the third season? BEBruns 11-01-2007, 03:04 PM There was no third season. It looks like they are just repackaging the series releasing it in half seasons. Trek Ace 11-01-2007, 03:46 PM I have the original two seasonal collections. One of my favorite anthology series, but there was still a lot of padding in some of the scripts to take something that was essentially a half-hour story and extending it to an hour. I'm hoping that Thriller, hosted by Boris Karloff, will be available soon on DVD. Old_McDonald 11-01-2007, 04:34 PM There was no third season. Well, now I'm confused. the Amazon link says to buy vol. 3 and get vols 1 and 2 for an extra 3.00 off. here's the link? http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000TJBNF8/thedigitalbit-20 BEBruns 11-01-2007, 05:01 PM Actually, it says get Season 1, Volume 2 for $3 off. If you do a search under the name, it looks like the original series was released as: Season 1 Season 2 Volume 1 Season 1, Volume 2 Volume 3 Since the second season was actually only half a season, it looks like they simply split up the first season. Unfortunately, they seemed to do it in a way that is just going to confuse people. Old_McDonald 11-02-2007, 08:28 AM Actually, it says get Season 1, Volume 2 for $3 off. It's bound to cost the retailers money to handle all of the returns when people realize they bought the same disks twice as I almost did. The studios should concentrate on releasing NEW stuff, not re-packing the old stuff. . Dave Hussey 11-02-2007, 09:09 AM I bought the entire fiirst season in one set, and then found the entire second season in a second set for $19. What they are doing now is re-issuing each sesson in separate volumes. That way - you get to pay more money!! Huzz g_xii 11-03-2007, 06:12 PM Yes -- another way to get you to part with your cash! Still, though, the one that really crimps my shorts the Star Trek TOS. TWO episodes PER DVD? WTF???? Paramont was alway one for milking the consumer, but there really are not even any extras with these DVD's! It amazes me.... especially since a lot of folks bought them on VIDEO TAPE that way, and then had to turn around and buy them AGAIN on DVD! Pity there is no trade-in value.... I got my Outer Limits season 1 as a complete set of double-sided DVD's. Hard as hell to figure out which side is which, and the writing around the center ring is SO small! Good stuff, even if the volume level is fairly low. I don't know why, but some of those incredibly simple monsters still give me chills.... it HAS to be hitting something stored in my subconscience or something.... Something that kind of scared me as a child gets triggered even when watching today. Well, not really SCARY today, but I get just a bit of a twinge of chill when I see some of the monsters I have not seen in 20 years. --Henry Old_McDonald 11-04-2007, 11:09 AM Yes -- another way to get you to part with your cash! One of my favorite episodes is of the white sphere found on the moon with the impending doom of the larger sphere searching in space for it. The trouble I have with most of the "horror" movies and tv today is that they rely too much on icky, gooey, slimy monsters set to a standard storyboard with characters too stupid to do common sense things like turing on a light before walking into a dark room. Anyone can see the trash that has been cranked out of Hollywood on the SciFi channel. None of those current movies have the great storylines and character building as of classics. vBulletin® v3.8.7, Copyright ©2000-2012, vBulletin Solutions, Inc.
