I finally saw the new MM's in WM this morning, and I couldn't wait to find them. There were 8 cars hanging on a single peg, no 5 packs. After seeing them in person, I can say I really don't like the new packaging. I've only got about 50 cars, all open, mostly the Hot Rods and the Mustangs, and I found them all at KB over the years at 3 for $5. So the retail price of $3.47 plus tax, especially with a plastic base, is a little more than what I'm willing to spend.

This is just my 2 cents.
I'm probably one of the few with this opinion, seeing as they seem to be very popular right now, but what do the rest of you think?

IMHO, Muscle Machines seem to be an aquired taste. Alot of collectors like realism in their diecast, alot seem to feel that MMs look too "cartoon-ish", if you will. I myself pride most of my collection being based on accurately looking OEM type vintage & muscle cars. I mostly buy stock-looking JL, GL, 100% HW for my collection. BUT......................

Muscle Machines just plain rock!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love 'em  The more they make, the more I'll be adding to my wall of MMs :woohoo: :woohoo:

I do agree with FLOYDFROG. Bulk of my collection are stock production or race cars, but the MM are so over the top, they are just plain fun! I love their "cartoon tributes" to the Shelby Cobra and the Tran-Am cars in the new release.

But Bill's point about the price is spot on - at $3.50 / car and $15 / 5-pack, the only MM in my collection are few and the ones I truly like.

If I bought my camaros only based on realism/accuracy I would hardly have any...love 'em!!!

I agree with all said about the price point. But with one of every original made thus far since 2000, I'll cough up the dough to keep the collection growing. (As long as the wife isn't with me when I find them!)

Congrats on having everyone. I wish I had paid more attention to them, but I'm happy with just the Mustangs, '33 Fords, BWF, and WWF that I've found so far.
(And I know exactly what you mean. )

While I'm a big fan of realism and detail on the small cars I collect, the Muscle Machines are an exception to my rules. I like them. Yes, they are cartoony, but they still resemble real cars, cars we've seen on the streets (kinda). They remind me of the cars I've seen in some car cartoons. I own about a dozen or so of them, and I'd pay the price to get some more. So far, I've only seen one new MM hanging on a peg.

I haven't seen the new MM in the stores yet. I have a dozen or so MM cars in my collection, including one 1/18 scale MM. I like realistic lookiing cars, but there is something about the cartoon look of MM cars that I like. The last MM that I bought was in 2005 (the 5th Anniversary models).

The big turn off was seening MM cars sold for $1 at dollar stores after paying three or more times that amount originally. I'll think twice before I buy a MM now.

The more I look at these, I think my problem is with the new motors. I much prefer the old style motors to the new style. They just don't look right on an older car. Maybe I'll have to pick some up and do engine swaps.

I wasn't too sure about them when I saw the singles, but tonigth at one WM, they only had 5 packs out, no singles or and room at all for them. I had to buy it once I picked it up and looked at it. The paint scheemes are great and the motors, while modern on some, still look great. Ill snap some pics tomorrow or later tonight if I can't resist the urge to open right now

Exactly I have a few of the Mopar stuff and a few Hot Rods stuffed away in a box some where maybe they will surface soon.

I really don't see 3.XX as too much money for ANY diecast with this amount of detail.
Not at all, not even if sometime, somewhere they might go on sale.
Well, which they actually might because they're kinda warming the pegs around here!!!
Think about it, would you trade one of these for three or four Hot Wheels?
If you did, the time you'd spend detailing them to this level - well let's just say I bet you'd want to get paid more per hour than that!

They're not to my taste, but I can totallt see why people love them!

I concur on more Oldsmobiles.. The '55 is the only one of its kind in small scale that is done by anyone. Same with the Vista's. When MM's first came out they were better than a Walmart experience, but now the novelty is over. I could do away with the big engines on some of the cars JMO, but I like the cars themselves.
