Hi folks,

I have been combing ebay for a modern 1/48 power cart (AKA: Ground Power Unit/GPU, AKA: Mule) but I don't need the whole ground crew set that Hasegawa kits include.

The kit I speak of is here:
http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=110168721615&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=001

Can anyone make any recommendations? BTW: I have NO idea how to fabricate.

Reason is that I have decided to light my F-18 kit, but for fun I am going to include the circuitry and batteries in the Mule, and make the power cable "functional"... Hope I am not too disillusioned! :p

Cheers,

Get the kit? Sorry, but at $10us it sounds like a bargain.

The power cart idea is great. I did that for a jupiter 2 and built in a timer circuit so you could press "on" and it would stay on for 40seconds and then switch itself off. Time to see what's going on, but won't wear out the batteries.

Exhibits where you have to hold down a button and look at the same time distract me. (not too coordinated I guess, huh?).

But I also built an on board power supply for flying it around the room. (whoosh whoosh). The power connector took care of switching the internal supply to external.

Hi,

Yeah, I know the price of the kit won't break the bank... Just curious about getting a standalone GPU.

But thanks!

I think this kit is your only option. Verlinden have done some similar items but they are solid resin so theres nowhere to hide your circuitry...
