View Full Version : 17.5 gearing on a 115-125 ft oval ? zune1 10-29-2007, 12:02 PM Can anyone start me off in the ballpark for gearing ? thanks   briano_72 10-29-2007, 12:25 PM on a 160ish track we were running 4.0. id say start 3.50 and go by your motor temps and how it sounds in the turns. you want temps right around the 150's or slightly under. jblackburn 10-29-2007, 07:26 PM 4 cell or lipo? zune1 10-29-2007, 08:49 PM thanks , 4 cell jblackburn 10-29-2007, 11:21 PM I agree with Briano_72. If running the heat sink on the motor go for around 140 or lower. I was at 4.16 this weekend but the track might be a tad longer. 4.32 killed it ... about a lap slower. What are the lap time? bigemike 10-30-2007, 09:04 AM we are running a bigger track and we are at 3.85 What we found is that there is a point where overgearing the car just starts to add heat, not faster lap times. And the cars that aren't overgeared have a slight advantage at the end of the race. Anyways I would start around a 3.30 and work up two teeth at a time until your lap times quit improving and then drop one tooth. going by temp on those motors doesn't work well. We have been running them for about 5 weeks now. vBulletin® v3.8.7, Copyright ©2000-2012, vBulletin Solutions, Inc.
