View Full Version : Body mounts
bigemike 10-28-2007, 09:55 PM What body mounts do you use and why. Where is a good place to get bolink style stuff, with the large diameter thread, so you can use the purple encaps? Also I have some all aluminum ones that are nice, but a little short on the rears and long on the fronts. I think they are finishline.

I would like to use the bases I already have and get some delrin posts that I could use body clips on. I will screw the body in If I have to, butI wouldlike something quicker if possible.
Thanks alot,
Mike
MIDWESTRC 10-28-2007, 10:05 PM Lefthander had Go Fast body posts, Alum. base with Delrin tops. and I think you can get them with clips or threaded.
captain11 10-29-2007, 05:36 AM check this out on left handerhttp://www.lefthander-rc.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=21&products_id=1221
TBRC1 10-29-2007, 07:08 PM I have the go fast mounts from lefthander and they have outlived 2 yes 2 bodies getting into brushless both 13.5 and 4300. Like I said they have outlasted 2 bodies and are still as straight as the day I took them out of the package. All I have had to do is cut about 1/8th of an inch off the middle mount in the hood.

check with beefy products. he has some screw type adjustable body post on his site.
Kenwood 10-29-2007, 08:13 PM I make my own...custom fit for rake/height/etc... I have access to delrin for almost nothing and have a machining center to make them on.. I dont like adjustable ones very much because the screws tended to strip and cause issues... And when in acciddents I found that they would slip... I used adjustable ones to model the right heights and then programed the machine to cut the specific heights for my chassis/body of choice...
I also only use pin ons.. I find that it keeps the chassis from binding >>like I often see people doing when screwing on a body.. Even without a machining center its still very easy to make them.
If you want the bolink style ones just go buy some plastic bolts...thats all they did.... then just drill/tap a 4/40 in the head of the bolt and your good to go...

If the GO FAST mounts outlast 2 of Toby's bodies, they have got to be good!!.....HAHA
C43GO 10-30-2007, 12:08 AM I use the all aluminum ones from www.lefthander-rc.com they are 26.00 and worth every penny they are adjustable with a set screw to just snug them up a little they have run outside nad in with no problems.
TBRC1 10-30-2007, 08:24 PM GEE Mike thanks for that wonderfull comment LOL :D But the dark side mounts can be just as tough.
I went through all alum gets locked in to place,Darkside good but you need to cut or space them, all delrin strip out. Then used the Go Fast alum delrin easy to use and they last DONE looking.

Matt Kav09 10-30-2007, 10:19 PM I made my own also. Aluminum bar stock from Sears Hardware. The bottoms look like the Risin up ones, but I use 12L front body post and clip the bottoms off and insert them in the aluminum. Then I use the TC3 body levelers with body clips to attach the body.
You can prolly use those Lefthander bottoms and just slide 12L posts in them.

If you look at the link in my first thread those are the same ones I have, but I am prolly going with kenwood's design of using delrin and making custom ones. I just already have those aluminum ones, so I was trying to stick with them. If there was a good way to shorten the fronts without messing them up I would do that. But all of the machinery here is setup for bigger tubing / pipe.
Thanks for the suggestions though everyone.
