Tornado_Racing 10-27-2007, 09:38 PM Here are a few pics of the prototype towers for the HD Assassin. The production towers should be available very soon.
Here are a few features of the new towers:
Front upper shock mounts are lowered 1/4"
Rear upper shock mounts are lowered almost 1/2"
Added shock mounting positions front and rear
Added camber holes for aggressive RF or RR camber gain
3mm thick for added strength
During testing these towers have performed awesome. With the added camber holes we can fine tune camber gain on the RF for that aggressive entry feel. These towers combined with the RDX PHI suspension arms really give us more tuning options for shock mounting, camber gain, and roll center adjustments.
The chassis pic also shows the direct steering option that will be offered as well. This will remove the steering rack assembly and save a ton of weight and it gives the HD Assassin the pan car steering feel.
These are pics of the new car I'm building for the Touring Oval Class at the 2008 Snowbirds.

Supposed to make the trip to Greeneville next week in prep for the Oval Masters. Might have to skip it and come play on some dirt!
I'll call ya later in the week.
How many late model did you have?
JONW1020 10-27-2007, 11:11 PM We havn't started racing yet, just running laps, Donnie still has some work to do, till we can race on it. Nov.15 is set for the first practice day. May start racing after that or might wait until first of year. I would say that 4WD late model will be the biggest class we have.
t4mania 10-28-2007, 10:18 AM That car is beautiful Tony. Its too bad I have a TC3 man I'd spring for it in a minute!!
jdearhart 10-28-2007, 02:23 PM Not only is the car beautiful, but it drives awesome too! I've been doing a lot of testing along with Tony, and these chassis' have come a long way since the Snowbirds last year. I think the two biggest changes have been the short arm setup along with the new shock towers. The new camber locations on the shock towers allow the car to cut so much harder! It's amazing how much this car turns in the center! But, it also has an incredible amount of drive off of the corners!
I'd just like to say thanks to Tony for all of the help! He's done an awesome job with all of the different ideas and things to try. If you're going to run touring oval, you can't go wrong with the Hyperdrive Assassin!
latemodel100 10-28-2007, 02:34 PM Awesome car may have to try out the TC Oval thing
Tornado_Racing 10-29-2007, 07:23 AM I have been asked the following question a few times:
Tony is that conversion for the rdx or the assassin
You can use the RDX (not RDX PHI) but you will need the following parts from the assassin:
COR79174 Rear Diff (http://www.corallyusa.com/istar.asp?a=6&id=COR79174!COR&csurl=%2Fistar%2Easp%3Fa%3D29%26) (RDX diff can be used when PRS parts are released)
COR79245 Rear Shock Tower (http://www.corallyusa.com/istar.asp?a=6&id=COR79245!COR&color=0&size=0&subsize=) (until new HD towers are released)
COR79200 Front Bulkhead (http://www.corallyusa.com/istar.asp?a=6&id=COR79200!COR&color=0&size=0&subsize=) (2x required)
COR79201 Rear Bulkhead (http://www.corallyusa.com/istar.asp?a=6&id=COR79201!COR&color=0&size=0&subsize=) (2x required)
COR79210 Motor Mount (http://www.corallyusa.com/istar.asp?a=6&id=COR79210!COR&color=0&size=0&subsize=)
COR79350 Top Deck (http://www.corallyusa.com/istar.asp?a=6&id=COR79350!COR&color=0&size=0&subsize=) (stock)
COR79352 Top Deck (http://www.corallyusa.com/istar.asp?a=6&id=COR79352!COR&color=0&size=0&subsize=) (3.2mm optional)
COR793137 Long Belt (http://www.corallyusa.com/istar.asp?a=6&id=COR79137!COR&color=0&size=0&subsize=) (direct drive)
You can use Assassin (long arm) (http://www.corallyusa.com/istar.asp?a=6&id=COR791024!COR&color=0&size=0&subsize=), RDX (short arm) (http://www.corallyusa.com/istar.asp?a=6&id=COR791074!COR&color=0&size=0&subsize=), or RDX PHI (short/front) (http://www.corallyusa.com/istar.asp?a=6&id=COR79080!COR&color=0&size=0&subsize=) RDX PHI (short/rear) (http://www.corallyusa.com/istar.asp?a=6&id=COR79090!COR&color=0&size=0&subsize=) arms. Keep in mind there are different flex ratings for each of the above. You can use soft arms outdoors (rubber tire, caps, dirt oval racing) and stiff arms on carpet (foam tire racing). Another excellent tuning option for the HD Assassin.
Corally has the following cars:
Assassin (http://www.corallyusa.com/2005/ASSASSIN.htm)
Assassin Mid Motor (http://www.corallyusa.com/2005/cars/AssassinMidMotorManual.pdf)(mid motor mount and top deck will not work)
RDX (http://www.corallyusa.com/2005/RDX.htm)(bulkheads, motor mounts, rear tower, and belts will not work)
RDX PHI (http://www.corallyusa.com/2005/PHI.htm)(bulkheads, suspension mounts, belts, shock towers, and diffs will not work)
Tornado_Racing 10-29-2007, 08:03 AM Here is a list of the parts used for the CW rear body mount:
1004 Rear Body Mount (http://www.customworksrc.com/ProductDetail.jsp?LISTID=3150000-1098589297)
2224 Top Plate Block (http://www.customworksrc.com/ProductDetail.jsp?LISTID=3840000-1101156578)
1238 Tranny Brace (http://www.customworksrc.com/ProductDetail.jsp?LISTID=3210000-1098591112)
Until the HD Rear Body Mount Assembly is released follow the instructions below for making the rear body mount using CW hardware.
1. You take the Tranny Brace and dremel cut it in 2 pieces. Cut it down and sand the one side so it matches the other side. When finished it should look even from side to side and front to rear.
2. Assemble the body mount, tranny brace, and block.
3. Then place the assembly on the rear side of the shock tower, mark your holes and drill.
Refer to page 1 for detailed pics.
When the HD towers are released you will not need step 3.
johnnyhacksaw 10-30-2007, 05:13 PM hey! tony, what's with the rear axle hub's on your new car? is that a mod corally part?
Tornado_Racing 10-30-2007, 06:09 PM They are from Specialized R/C but have been discontinued. It's a stock upright with the top cut-off and 2 holes drilled for a vertical ball stud.
johnnyhacksaw 10-30-2007, 07:08 PM good idea!
Tornado_Racing 10-30-2007, 07:20 PM good idea!

racer57 11-01-2007, 07:39 PM Tony it is Dustin Malicoat, give me a call I would like to talk to ya about some of this stuff concerning the dirt oval side.
tmr22 11-01-2007, 08:17 PM Tony, do you make any 32 pitch gears for us nitro dirt oval racers? If so I would be interested in talking with you. As of today the CW race is I think full. They posted on dirtoval.com that they were at the 60 heat limit but they are taking alternates. Come up if you can and check it out.
Tim McNutt
jdearhart 11-01-2007, 08:42 PM Hey Tim,
I'm pretty sure they only make 48 and 64 pitch. But Tony could answer for sure.

burbs 11-03-2007, 08:19 PM I did not read through the whole thread, but how much is the corrally touring car kit street price,(not the conversion) and where can they be bought.. What is the total price for the kit, and the conversion.. IE what would it cost me to get one, thanks
jdearhart 11-03-2007, 09:19 PM Hey Burbs,
You can purchase the kit from Corally. When I bought mine it was $300. I called and talked with Jeff Brown at Corally, and he hooked me up with the Master Assassin. The conversion kit can be purchased through Barry at Hyperdrive. This is what you get with the kit:
1x chassis plate
1x nerf wing
1x tray bracket
1x 6-cell battery tray
1x bumper
2x rear arm brackets
HD Assassin TC Conversion Kit* $150.00 plus shipping.

jbm38 11-05-2007, 07:21 AM These cars look really awesome, nice work!!
But for the simpler side of life when can I purchase what I see in the pics in one package?
Tornado_Racing 11-05-2007, 07:48 AM These cars look really awesome, nice work!!
But for the simpler side of life when can I purchase what I see in the pics in one package?
To be 100% honests it will be some time before an HD Assassin kit is available. There are talks of machined bulkheads so you can purchase an RDX and go racing from there.
Right now your looking at about $400.00-$500.00 to get a roller. $300.00 for a new Assassin kit ($200.00 for a used car), $150.00 for the offset chassis kit, and about $40.00 for the rear body mount. This would give you the version 1 which is what TQ'd and Won the birds last year. My new car is a version 2 which includes updated arms, towers, and steering. This car has shown to be very promising during testing.
As more kit form info is available I'll post ASAP.
