View Full Version : New Indoor in ASHTABULA
Riff_Raff_11561 10-27-2007, 12:00 PM Well guys I am trying to open a Indoor Off Road Track . I am in contract with a huge Indoor Warehouse. Its about 40,000+ square feet of open warehouse. I will not tell where it is atthe moment but what I can say is that ist gonna be in ashtabula. The warehouse has space for a hobby shop but i am not sure if and when i can open a hobby shop onsite till I get in and see how the business is . It will be open all year round and I am hoping to have the heating system that is already in working so its comfortable . I have already written 2 contracts to the owner and he has given me the feelingthat he is ok with the one of the contracts but has not told me wich one . I am ready to get The dirt in . I have a few friends from NYC that will with no problem ship me the Dirt from one of 2 of that baseball diamonds there . The stuff that is replaced goed to a landfll and i have talked with my Construction friend and we have settled on a price for all the dirt I can get for a all in one price . I am thinking itsthe best dirt I can find anywear notto mention at the best price . It will be Trained in and i will have trucks to get it at the yard . All this is pending on the contract that the owner of the warehouse choosed. I will keep you all informed on the progress of things as they come up . Thanks
trinity_racer 10-27-2007, 01:59 PM Where in Ashtabula? It would be really conveinent for me since i live 10 minutes down the road from bula.
Riff_Raff_11561 10-27-2007, 02:06 PM Well to tell you the truth Its not gonna be in town or anything but it will be less that 10 min from city limits. Keep in tune and i will let the adress rip when it get it all together i am thinking I want it up and running before March some time. I would love to have the place running good for the sumer. I have to wait for the permits to go thru and to cutthe red tape . Its not easy let me tell you . I have to wait for the city council to give me the ok to make that . NOw I am thinking of not even doing the dirt thing Maybe a n off road carpet and wood ramps. I think its so much simpler and alot cleaner. i would like to know what you guys think about the carpet offroad track ? Any ideas ?
trinity_racer 10-27-2007, 04:07 PM Stick with dirt.
ccm399 10-27-2007, 10:39 PM I am in contract with a huge Indoor Warehouse. Its about 4000+ square feet of open warehouse.
Did you forgot a 0? If not you are talking about 1/4 the size of the the popular indoor tracks. One of which will be 10 minutes (or so) from your track.......
Riff_Raff_11561 10-28-2007, 04:43 PM Yes I forgot the 0 at the end of that . LOL Thanks for the Heads up . I know the other track in Jefferson is still in working and all. I am not looking to take anyones business or anything like that. I do know that me and some others cannot get to that track as oftern as we want to due to transportation problems or just that we do not wanna go there at all. ( not a bad thing ) I like to give people a choice on where they wanna go and what they wanna play in. ALl I wanna do is make myself a place to race without having to worry about travel as much as i have to now. I have been doing this hobby for over 20 + years and I knwo that the more places and choices you have the better the hobby can get. I want everyone to understand that I am not here to cause a problem or make trouble. Its just something i wanted to do for a long time and now i have the funds to do so and its now or never ! ! ! LoL Feel free to help me out and give me a fer tips on what to do and what type of track you guys would like to see built. Iam open to ideas from everyone in the hobby . I cannot assure you i will use it but I wil take all into consideration that for sure.
trinity_racer 10-28-2007, 06:22 PM Once you get everything worked out, PM me and I could probably help with the track build.
ccm399 10-28-2007, 07:14 PM That's cool.
I figured when you were talking about getting dirt brought in by train it was larger than 4000 square feet!!!!
Good luck with zoning and such.
BIGKAHUNA 10-29-2007, 07:13 AM how close to route 11?????
if it has a cement floor put in a large oval pan car track. we will be there needs to bee 100 foot striaghts and 40 foot wide you will bring alot of races to your track.

Best bet is to check their site out for that or maybe hit e-bay to see if there is anything out there for them.
Not sure how much aftermarket is out there for them.
Good luck.

nitrohead 11-15-2007, 11:33 PM I'm confused.... 2 indoor tracks in Ashtabula ????
RIFF RAFF
In Columbus we would be hard pressed to support 2 tracks even in adjoining counties. I'm surprised the racer base is larger up there to support 2 tracks.
nitrohead 12-23-2007, 11:54 PM Any news?

Scott54 12-24-2007, 01:57 PM Is this the new Micro-T track I'm hearing about?
JMPN02 12-30-2007, 12:46 PM It sounds like this is going to be ANOTHER electric track , No nitro? Is this correct?
Riff_Raff_11561 12-30-2007, 01:15 PM As of right now I had to make the contract for no NITRO for the first year . I have a clause in it that states if after the first year goes by and I pesonally take out Insurance for the NITRO he will allow me to place one on the property. I will have to tell you I am thinking Nitro will only be outdoors if the Insurance rates get to high . But In a year I am planning to have a nitro track .
signpro 12-30-2007, 02:20 PM I don't think the racer base will be big enough to support 2 electric tracks though.....Jefferson has that market pretty much to themselves by their reputation of awesome competition and sweet layouts.
Kid Kahuna 12-30-2007, 03:16 PM Signpro? Are you not located south-West of Massilion??

If I have not said it before I will say it now. I a not looking to steal anyones business what so ever. Its called Business for a reason there will be more than one out there and the chances are that if the place ( OHIO ) where its at does not or will not support it then one will go . If its me then ok, if its not then ok too. I have been to the jefferson track and I will take nothing from him what so ever. Its a great track and awesome competition like you said. What I want is variety the spice of life. I will make my place mainly onroad if I have to. Carpet onroad or dirt Oval what ever it takes. Thanks for the interest in my track I hope to see some of you guys who are reading this at the New Track. The lay outs will be very challenging and the atmosphere will be what you make it. I will have a Hobby shop On site and vending machines for food and drink. Power, heat at the drivers stand, and in the pits. Like I said hope to see you around and hope to see you racing at the track . . .
