View Full Version : Best 1/64 models?
Superbird77 10-25-2007, 02:28 PM I know it's matter of preferences...but... is there a company that makes 1/64 models that really stand out? I just remembered these, they are in 1/87 scale:

More on this link. (http://www.kyosho.com/jpn/shop/omotesando/high-tech/index.html#01) Yes, prices are astronomical, but they look amazing for the scale.
So what is top of the tops in 1/64? Any pictures are more than appreciated!
rioredgt 10-27-2007, 09:24 PM WOW! The detail is extrordinary. I really like the Maserati.

Wow, very nice. But... if I understand the site correctly, the cars vary in price between 20,000 and 30,000 yen. That's between $175 and $300 per car!!!! :freak:
PWSchuh 10-29-2007, 06:53 AM Yep, but the Japanese often pay a premium to get things made smaller. In general they are usually having to deal with having a lot less storage space than a typical western family. In the US, we go the other way and are often looking for larger scales of things. Few Japanese have the space to collect 1/18th scale cars.
hookie 10-29-2007, 07:10 PM In my opinion Autoart is the firm who makes the best collectibles in 1/64 scale.
Rubber wheels, right rims, real lens (not painted), and of course TRUE scale.
Other firms are also in the same quality level, kyosho, CMS and some modern models from high speed.
And of course if we speak of fire trucks only we can mention one firm in the world... Code 3.

Great thinking, I've never thought of it in this way. It really seems Japanese like to have everything miniaturized (think Bonsai trees).
Atencio 11-01-2007, 11:46 PM I would go with AutoArt as well.
I am a big fan of 1/72 scale Dragon Armour stuff which has excellent detail as well if you happen to like 50 ton tanks.
Quantum 11-16-2007, 10:50 AM I have quite a few Kyoshos now. Sure they don't have opening doors or hoods, but that's kind of secondary for me. I really love them.
Fast Eddie 12-10-2007, 12:49 AM Have to agree about Kyosho's, that is all I have bought lately, especially their beads collection. Tomica Limited are also very nice. Hotwheels 100%/cool collectibles are nice also. I have 1 Paul's Model Art/microchamps, which is top notch too. Don't have any Auto Art stuff yet to compare.
BluntFronts 12-12-2007, 12:29 PM I just opened up some 1/64 Hi-Speed models from Malibu International. For $2.97 each they are amazing. I'll try to get some pics up.
Moparaz 02-11-2008, 11:45 PM Very nice they could pass as real almost
Movie Car Mania 02-13-2008, 02:26 PM WOW! The Maserati is tight!
