for those of you that discharge your batteries and pay attention to the 240 second numbers what type of voltage are you seeing in the 4200s at this mark?

this man is right this is what i want to see
60 sec 5.10 or higher
120sec 5.o6 or higher
180sec 5.00 and up
240sec 4.94 and up

this is what i want to race with or better at this point.

i just hope this batter game of late is over soon with the cells being very unstable and not long life.

You didn't specify, but just to be clear everyone is talking about 35A numbers. 4.96+ like was said above.

Generally, assuming good care practices,
about how long do you see these numbers lasting
before dropping to low 4.90's?

thanks..

First, I'll say that different people have different definitions of "good" and that each GFX reas a little different and ambient temperature plays a roll in how the numbers come out.

On my GFX I usually look for 4.87+ at 300s for what I consider to be "good". The best I've had was 4.93 at 300s. I know some people see better and some people see worse it just depends on the indivual charger and conditions.

The numbers I mentioned are 100% shorted.

Pat any idea what the 240second #'s are on the shorted packs.

Currently my race packs are 4.96-4.98 @240s. I've had a 4.99-5.00 from batches this summer.

Dead-shorted 240" 4.96-4.99 300" 4.94-4.96

Like reading Dyno #'s though. Everybody's readings are a little different. I have been VERY pleased with my shorted packs on the track. (where it counts)Running 10.5 on 'crete 5 minute races.
My procedure is discharge on the turbo after the race then put in 0-30. Leave in the 0-30 until pack is cooled off. (15-20 min) Then apply the dead-short across the Batt. while its still in the 0-30 discharger.
Few issues with false peaking when charging but nothing major.
Dead shorting sure beats going out to the pit trailer everyday hoping they did'nt self distruct.

I wasn't clear enough, Pat.... :drunk:

What I meant was..
About how long, in runs, or weeks, could one expect those higher end numbers to last?

Put another way... in X weeks, or runs, I expect to see a 4.97@240 pack come down
to 4.92, and consider this normal....

Just trying to get an idea of what you guys feel is that particular
expectancy from a 4200 pack..

On deadshorted packs you'll see the wicked drop-off around the 350 second mark. Deadshorted packs will have more up front voltage but a bit lower out-da-backdoor numbers vs. new sticks. Generally after about 4-6 weeks it's a good idea to deadshort your packs.

Sorry I misunderstood. I think you can expect some degree of drop off after the first couple cycles and then they stabilize for awhile. Packs I got at the start of summer in June are still very raceable and I raced them 1 to occassionally two times a week since then. As packs they started off as like 5.00 to 5.02 and as of a few weeks ago were like 4.95-4.96.

Intersting. To some degree I've found the opposite to be true. I find my dead shorted packs to have no voltage increase up front but with very good gains from 240s to 360s. Of course they instantly drop off between 370 and 390, but since I don't run mod that isn't an issue.

of all the packs i have shorted and havent i have noticed the biggest difference between 120 and 210 seconds {i have been charting 30 sec intervals}
the deadshorted cells didnt drop but .01 to .02
the non d.s. cels dropped .05 to .07
just hadnt seen this posted anywhee and this has answered my ???????
TIME TO GO LIPO...........
