I've enjoyed every book John Krakauer has written. He's a great journalist and a fine writer who can make truth as dramatically compelling as any fiction. Until now, I've found Sean Penn's work as a writer/director "interesting", but less than satisfying. With Into The Wild, Penn has written and directed one of the very few films I've seen that is arguably "better" than the book from which it was adapted. This movie is going to stay with me for a long time. If you have any interest at all - go see it.

Can you give a bit more about the book and movie, perhaps? I've never heard of either, nor am I familiar w/the author.

Zorro - Into Thin Air is one of my favorite books. As sad and tragic the events were during his time on Everest, it was serendipity that he should be there to experience and record the proceedings.

Great book! I highly recommend Under The Banner of Heaven too.

Hey Scott,
On Oct 25 Sundance Channel is running a new episode of it's Iconoclast series with both Krakauer and Penn. It's already getting good reviews.

Thanks, Scott. Unfortunately, my cable company converted Sundance to a premium channel awhile back. Sucks because I watched that channel quite frequently.
